I used to do power lifting - until I knackered my achillies - I miss it :D

I used to laugh at all the guys NOT working their legs and kissing their biceps in the mirror after they grunted to lift heavy weights with bad form.

Oooh the heady days of my youth.

Oh yeah - and Im a girl so no male chicken here!

You legend!!!!

I met this power lifting woman and she taught me heaps. My benching went up massively. She said to propell your power through the lats as well as the chest and keep all as tight as poss.legs under butt and hands not too far out

How did you do your achilles?

I was doing squats in the rack and - errr went down like a sack of poo and ended up in a rather stupid position. Its got scarring on it and doing squats aggravates it to the point I limp really badly!

I love squats too!

I used to end up giving out all sorts of advice at the gym I used to use but there were too many "boys" with noodles hanging out their shorts swaggering around as if they were carrying rolled up carpets under their arms for my liking.

I like a spit and sawdust affair, minimal machines loads of free weights and love the callouses LOL

Mind you if you were to meet me Im such a girl :D

Ah sounds just like the gym I used to go too that, had loads of free weights and was just proper people who went there to work out the owner, used to chuck chavs and any scum out.
Both the 2 owners entered the UK strongest man's contest. I remember a convo with them once over a pic on the wall with one pulling a truck and his comment when asked if it was hard work was 'It was only 12 tonne'

I can now bench a staggering 35kg. Started 4 weeks ago and completed my first goal of being able to bench more than my mates girlfriend.

I think a hell a lot of it is just technique. Thats why you can get little people lifting like twice their bodyweight at the olympics.

I'm on form at the mo people. I'm going to catch chris hoy who can squat 230kg for one rep!

I weigh 97kg and my reps are full range by the way such as all the way down on squats and bar to chest on bench press!!!!!

This week I did 180kg deadlifts from the floor for 3 reps

Tonight I got 1 rep of 180kg squats, 4reps of 160kg, 8 reps of 140kg, and 10 reps of 130. Afterwards I was f**ked!

On leg press I got up to 360kg for 4 reps but have done 400kg before when just starting the session.

I will get there. I am persistant! THIS IS SPARTA!

What are your achievements or aims.

Some damned impressive numbers there mate! Well done!

Squats used to be proper knee-killers for me, always felt like I was going to pop a patella! :D

Are girlies alowed in this thread?

I dont want to get muscular as Im a woman :P but Ive been doing exercises to get myself back into the splits. I was born with one dislocated hip and one clicky hip :D but I am very lucky because despite two unsuccessful operations when I was a buba, they fixed me . I do not have a limp when I walk but a mate of mine that had the same thing does. You wouldn't know any different....kinda! Anyway At the age of 6/7 I was well into gymnastics, could do the splits, both ways and was very bendy and flexy ;) I then gave up gym and went to dancing on stage and again, at the age of about 13 I had to train myself for a stage performance to be able to do the ''can-can'' (in high heals) then jump into the splits at the end of it :- I did it!! But, that was many moons ago, and I hardly ever do any sport now . But since Ive been off work for the last 6 weeks Ive been training myself to get into the splits again.

I am also doing lots of sit ups and crunches, and plan to do a lot more swimming and running to burn the cals away, when I get my wrist casts off!!

And no, this isnt in the gym, this is on the floor of my bedroom :P. Not guna pay for a gym when I can exercise at home
