interesting. downhill ive managed to get my '87 998cc to around 85mph. very noisy

at the moment i'm re-doing the upholstery, so the car is currently a one seater. i wonder if the weight loss will cause a noticeable performance boost :D

On a slightly different tack...
My standard 998 gets to 60 very happily (and quickly enough) but moving up from there takes a loooooong time.
She'll go 0-30 before you realise you're showing off - then 30-60 really smoothly and with no trouble.
But 60+ and 60-80 takes a good long time.
Anyone else have the same experience ?

I'm never disappointed by the performance and I wonder if a stage one kit would really make that much difference.
But I'm always tempted... It's not a bank breaker and it seems to offer that extra little bit.
But does it ?

Any opinions on whether a well tuned standard 998 would really benefit from being "modded" with a stage one kit ?
Anyone done it and then felt it was wasted money ?

Best wishes
Monty

Monty, yes that is the case with my 998 too... Maybe it has something to do with the final drive on standard 998s...

my checkmate (998 with 3.44 final drive) has stg 1 kit and skimmed head..dont even know about top speed, but now with 145 tyres does 90 easily. With 165s it needs more more time to reach 90.

My 89 mini 30 had a metro lump in it with stage one the diff ratio is 3.6-1 and with 7/13's it would do 90 flat out (but found it had trashed bores too)

..u can start from taking cylinder head off to decoke it and give a polish to the ports, then drill holes in the front underside of air filter casing..thats for free:)
Then fitting a good rc40 exhaust and a k&n filter (as per stg1 kit ) will help too..

Well my 998 has a stage 1 kit, apart from that it was standard. Speedo goes to 90mph but had a mate behind doing 105mph on his speedo in his golf. Since his speedo may be abit out at those speeds i'd say i was doing 100.
