No it was actually 'Well Look Happy You Stupid B##tards, We Won Didn't We' and then 'They Went Thataway'. Cut to the Minis doing their stuff.



I can still remember my mother gasping at that cursing line on the first time we saw the film, since all the family was watching and I was only 6 years old at the time.

I can also remember them screaming with disappointment and shock that the ending was literally a cliffhanger ending.

Still amazing.

everyone but the organisers knew who was supposed to win thats why they won the year after!!! i know you wasnt having a go at the french but red tape was involved in the race like all ova the country red tape clogs up everything!! lol

Lots of other competitors (including Ford) were disqualified that year (1966). They found a lighting technicality and then used it to the fullest extent so a French car won instead.

Plus it's said that they were convinced the British team was cheating. So they stripped one of the winning Mini Coopers to look for any modifications and stuff. They even raced a showroom Cooper S against one of the Works Cooper S and the showroom Cooper S was quicker because it didn't have all the rally paraphernalia on it.

But they were determined to chuck them out and they did due to them using the wrong type of headlamp bulbs.

I like the traffic jam, where the guy is chating to the girl, i think he brushes her brest and she slaps him,
also the control room where the boss is getting frantic " va bene? " and the underling screems at him

I just wanted to resurrect this thread to mention the part where the 'jobbers' are getting their final debriefing and Camp Freddie asks (whilst filing his nails) 'now we've lost the Aston and the two Jags, what happens if something goes wrong?'

To which Charlie replies 'put your gloves on' and then changes the subject completely.

Oh and then states how in this country they drive on the 'wrong side of the road'.

my favorite part is where they are all in the meeting and Charlie says

now this is a very difficult job and the only way to get through it is we all work together as a team
and that means you do everything i say.

when the minis go up the ramp onto that large building and split, followed by a police car that comes to a stop and the siren sounds like the battery has packed up. the police man gets out, scratches his head and the minis reappear and off they go back down the ramp. one of many great scenes.
