You shouldnt need to include a relay, but it depends what current your starter switch is rated to. If you are using a proper starter switch it shouldnt be a problem, if you are using one with a low rating you will fry it when you try to start.

Anyhow, here is a wiring diagram for everyone that is unsure on how to wire a starter switch in. Hope it helps.

Gary.

Im having one of the race ones put in they look good. But you might want to think of the old floor starter, would be a nice party trick if no one knows its there. And you start the engine with now hands

ive got push start is allways a crowd pleaser!! its in this lot !

:gasp:

this is exactly what i was going to do, those switches in a home made panel!
have you got pics of it in the car?

I used the same switches in my dash, they aint cheap, but certainly look the part.

They are way too bright for night time driving though. I put inline resistors in place to dim them to a suitable level...

Just fitted a push start. Mandgands, your diagram was brill, thanks a lot.

Nothing fancy, just replaced the washer button (in center of switch facia where key is on Mk 1) with a big button

Glad my diagram helped Cookie, those buttons are mint, sure they were used in the van with hydraulic flip front.
