Its painted in 2 pack flat black, but also laquered it for abit more shine and a harder finish.

Ideally I need to remake the glovebox door at some point, as you can see marks in the light where the hole used to be.

Took me bloody ages to prep it right to make it look decent! And had to paint it twice, the old varnish had seepend into the grain and was reacting with the new paint!

Have you got any pics of the damage yet?
Are you concentrating on the repairs or are you starting on the subframe?

Well good news and bad news.

Neither insurance would pay to view the police report of the accident (why they should have to pay I dont know, isnt that what tax money goes too)

So in the end, the insurance called it a 50/50 at fault. His insurance pay 50% of my damages, mine pay 50% of his. Only problem is, its a claim against me, which will make insurance more difficult for me.

Good news, damage is fixed and is fine, ready for paint, possibly today, Im not sure.

Bad news, have decided I dont have the time or patience to do the Suzuki conversion right now, so plan to sell the Suzuki as a complete car, and do the coversion/ another conversion, sometime in the future.

Just bidding on a 1275 though which I hope to plonk into it for the summer, so I can enjoy the car.

ah thats gutting jack! I was just thinking of what happnened of this erlier whilst i was painting in the garage... bit gutting ubt a 1275 is more than enough, getting insured with a suzuki GTi conversion would have been very exspensive aswell!

I hope it all turns out well for you!

The Swift conversion doesnt actually push up the insurance that much, as its still 1.3 (obviously its going to depend who your insured with).

can't believe thatwabout the insurance thats rubbish. bureaucracy at its worst and you are the one that suffers with higher premiums even though it was the other guys fault.

good news that the car is getting repaired though

Glad to hear your car will soon be back on the road, Jack

Insurance companies will do anything to get out of paying, last year Andy had some old dear drive out of her lane on a roundabout and drove straight into the side of his 38 tonne lorry( with crane so you couldn't miss it !!)
He hadn't moved out of his lane yet her insurance tried to claim 50/50 ,his company wouldn't have it and it took nearly a year to sort and nearly ended up in court ,but at last her insurance paid everything !!

Well the Gti conversion wouldnt make a difference on premium, cause Im on my dads traders policy, insured in anything pretty much.

But now my dads insurance will go up, and I have a claim against me. He's held insurance with that company for 25 years and never claimed. I feel terrible, but its not even my fault.

Anyway, good news. Won a metro 1275 on ebay earlier. 1989, 60k miles, owned by the guy from new, thats 18 years! Went to pick it up as it was only 30 odd miles away. Got it back and got the engine out in a few hours tonight.

Plus the mini was painted tonight.
