its a BMW cooper dash.
narrowed by approx 3 inches each side, shortened by approx 6 inches into the window base, but left at more or less standard height. It may need trimming in height once we get the pedal box in place, and John reckons a corsa rack will work well.

we did set a date to have it finished, but like all good projects its probably gonna take longer. scratch that - it'll definately take longer. ;)

john's been busy with the plasma cutter and its coming into shape already. The shell was in superb condition for its age, so make good on panel work really is at a minimum.

I'm starting on the bespoke arches and interior panels right now.

were setting the standards pretty high for this one, we want it to be an improvement on the cabriolet, and make it the best we can. Its meant to showcase John's talents to the max, whereas the cabriolet was / is a culmination of work and input from several sources.

one things for sure - this one wont be taking 10 years to complete

Its going to have the 16V engine originally destined for our other mini, all the shiny bits also, and a high bespoke interior to suit the pro-sound style installation.

Oh, and lots of carbon fibre.

looks like we've found our new favourite tool - rear valance has gone as well, rear seat's gone, interior bins are gone and arches are trimmed out - and thats just one afternoons plasma-ing I think.

definately got to get one of our own - saves days of work  boot floor is next I think ;)

I used to have one!!!

Fecking shame you didn't start chopping him earlier, those bits you've cut off would have made excellent repair panels for Spudnik......DOH!!!

That looks brillant. You really should start a project thread. 1 queston those indicators on the front. They seem to ring around anouther light. Is that other light light a side light or a fog light or other?

It'll be a side light / daytime running light. :(

Have you found any indicators like that for the front yet. I say this cause notest that some of the new stagecoach busses have lights like that on the front of them.

Its all HELLA kit at the moment, but some of the pieces have been on back order for nearly 3 months now - so I may have to look elsewhere for the front indicator LED surrounds.

>_<

thanks for moving us into projects Minili :)

done a bit today whilst I had the space to play, weve decided to incorporate a strut brace onto the new rear turrets, mainly because they protrude up so high there is the slim chance the new turrets could move under harsh conditions. it'll be just like a strut brace on the front of your average saxo / chavalier but braced up to a hanging bracket set on the rear shelf, which is in turn braced front to rear on a small subframe of sorts.
its all connected with ally tubes with rose joints at either end.

fingers crossed it'll stiffen the turrets and make the suspension more capable at the rear that it might have been left alone.

sketchup doodle kinda shows the idea, and you can see the brackets coming together and the new turret insert.

;) there is some thought now that the rear brace assy may not be necessary, or may not add any real benefit - any thoughts?
