A Quick Update

As predicted back in March, as show organisers continue to confirm shows for summer 2021 and as the UK comes out of Covid restrictions, we have seen a serge of orders, as everyone rushes to ready pride and joys, for a well overdue show season and a bit of freedom.

It’s not unusual for lead times (across our standard product ranges) to be upwards of 6 weeks this time of year (the 8 week period before & after Easter is always our busiest time of the year), but with the additional serge of “excitable post Covid” orders, lead times are currently around 8 weeks (for orders we are working on this week).

This will gradually drop over the coming months back to around 4 to 6 weeks (which is relatively normal) and we believe that current lead times (if you are looking to place an order today) are around 5 to 7 weeks (8 to 10 weeks on Cobra seats). Also just to let you know, first available start dates for anything bespoke are now into July.

Whilst I’m sending this update out, it’s also best to point out that if you need to contact us at the moment, email is by far the easiest and best option. It’s all hands on deck in the workshops (when possible for me) and I’m also busy prepping for a very different post-Covid world at the moment - this means I’m not sat at my desk as much as usual and I’m often unavailable to answer the phone.

With regards to “a post-Covid world”, it’s been great welcoming visitors back to Optimise HQ of late and although all appointments have taken place outside of the premises (in line with current government guidelines), it’s been lovely discussing projects face-to-face (or perhaps mask-to-mask is a more appropriate description).

Moving forward, it’s not long now until we are able to welcome visitors back inside, when the latest government guidelines are again relaxed from Monday May 17th. We’ve made a number of changes to our “show room area” that will vastly improve your experience when you visit us here at Optimise HQ and we can’t wait to welcome you back inside.

Our Show Van Is FOR SALE

It’s time for a change here at Optimise and it’s time to let our beautiful VW T5.1 show van go to pastures new. As many of you already know, it’s an absolutely stunning van, inside, out and mechanically (under 30k on the clock).

For further details, please see the AutoTrader advert: LINK

Welcome To Our New Normal

Regular readers of our Blog will know that throughout the past 18 months I have continually kept everyone up-to-date with regards to unavoidable Covid service changes and Classic Mini product range lead times.

However, it was always going to come to a point when the time was right to accept that this is the “new normal” and I am absolutely delighted to announce, that time is now!

The giant backlog of orders from March & April is now well out the way and slowly but surly we will now get our lead times down to what we class as pre-Covid normal. Frustratingly, our progress was massively halted this month following an enforced closure as a result of a Covid outbreak here at Optimise (we lost 168 hours of production to Covid isolations in August). Lets ignore that though (as it’s something that we don’t have any control over) and concentrate on the fact that per working week over the course of the past 8 working weeks we have manufactured & dispatched more than 8 weeks worth of orders, meaning that per week worked our lead times are finally starting to drop again.

This feels like the perfect time for us to move on and it’s time for us to yet again celebrate the amazing things that we do here at Optimise.

I would like to thank the vast majority of our customers for your continued support, your kind words and your understanding throughout - it's you lot that have kept us going.

We’ve got absolutely loads of new stuff to share with you, as over the past 18 months we have actually introduced a number of new products & services, many of which became lost in a Covid haze.

I’ll be back in a months time with a refreshingly old school, pre-Covid, exciting update.

Have a great day.

Kind regards,
Andy & the Optimise Automotive team

Printed trim is now part of our bespoke options (not part of the product range), please pop and email over for further information and quotes.
