Thanks im really pleased with how well it came out. The block is going the same color and im on the look for some shiny silver spray for odds and sods like the thermostat housing and core plugs etc...

motorworld do a pretty good silver spray used it on a gearbox and looked pretty good
should be able to get it from halfrauds too.

its looking good though man

Yeah i got all my sprays and engine paint from halfords! Pretty good selection to be honest!

http://www.minispare...ty=pb&pid=34657 heres the core plugs i need but it says for 1300 and 1275's but mine a 998 and definetly is closer to 30mm than 40 something which is the next size up

Als theres one smalle core plug aswell. Any idea where im supposed to find that? havnt measured it but its probably arond 25mm

any progress? where did u get your front subframe from? i bought one buts its shot, top bolts are snapped inside, rusted through and pretty much scrap! might have a go at modifying a later one for my mk1 rebuild!

Hi, having problems at the minute with the engine i was given having an empty gearbox

Thinking about buying a runner and just giving it a service because i dont have the moneys to sort out the gearbox. Trying to work out what brakes im going to need so i can pick it up for xmas, then its a case of sorting out the suspension (yet more bloody money that i dont have ) just kinda getting me really annoyed at the minute because i want to get on with it but cant

The subbys i got from a mk1 shell some bloke had lying around.

Oh just remembered, at work with dad atm which is where shelby is kept, so i got some sneaky pics and i'll upload later.

Its only been 6 months to get my own pics of her

That last one is where there was a small hole and is in the process of being done. The bloke we've got in to do it has had to put a plate behind it and filler over the recess left to make it flush. Does sound a bit of a pikey's way round it but he done my dads Mk2 Cortina 1600e and made a stunning job f it so im not doubting it'll look good.

Havnt updated in ages, but *hopefully* things should pick up a little bit. For starters i got £100 minispares vouchers for xmas, and around £50 cash. But most importantly, a Metro (For the engine) Its a 84 998 43,000 genuine miles and runs sweet as a nut








My dads bringing the Hi-ab lorry home on thursday so i can crack on and get the engine out on the subframe so that its still moveable. From there im just going to give the Motor a wash and leave as is... I have a special plan for a few months after being on the road for the 998 so dosnt need to be spotless

Update end of the week

EDIT:Bit of a plug here but a couple of ads... The Metro is up for grabs, wont take much to get it roadworthy, apprently only ran out of Mot a few months before i got it (Would of been middle of December)

Just remembered what i was supposed to ask yesterday... Although you cant see it in the picture, im pretty sure its got a HIF38, but i dont know wether to keep it as its a bit, go faster power, or stick my HS4 on which i rebuilt?

Todays efforts. Managed to strip off al the ancillaries and get the Subframe off complete with engine. What an absolute pig getting the steering colum unbolted form the floor Grrr....

I did have a hairy helper but he had issues with the tools

Also any opinions on which carb to use wouldn't go unanswered...
