how about something like this

http://monkey-nutz.c...mp;productId=17

i dont know if its chinese or not, but even if it is, surely it would last 1 year? Or dothey constantly Break?

Cheers

as ive said before mate, the chinese bikes are crap! i wouldnt touch one with a barge pole! they are poorly built, fall to bits and parts can be impossible to get hold of. thats my words of warning to you. if you want a monkey bike then pay a bit more for a honda and you will have a years worth of trouble free riding and it will probably be worth the same or maybe more when you come to sell it on. if you get a chinese bike it will be *melonsed* after a year and you will have thrown your £700 or whatever down the drain! stick to japanese bikes such as honda, yamaha, suzuki or kawasaki and you wont go far wrong. also peugeot speedfights are an excellent scooter!

You should have a look over at http://www.thechines...orum.com/forum/

It's best to take advice from folk that have actually owned a certain bike. A few of the chinese bike manufacturers have pulled away from the rest in terms of quality, although most are still poor / cheap. In the 60s/70s japanese bikes came on to the scene and were regarding as crapola but that soon changed. As a point of reference, nowadays some suzuki's are built in China.

http://www.50cc-moto...cfd44b0f13df67e is another good resource for mopeds.

My bike has proved reliable & the build quality is fine. I replaced the sparkplug, fuel pipe / filter, cdi unit to known quantities to ensure that remains the case. I prefer not to use my Bonneville T100 for the daily commute.

Alternatively, You might be able to get a cheap aprilia mx or rs 50 on ebay. They're fun 2 strokers but will probably have been thrashed to hell & back rendering them less reliable than your average oriental ride.

I hope this helps.

I've got a Honda X8R which I bought back on January. I got it through ebay but gave the guy £500 for it. It's a 2003, it had been down the road but most panels were replaced. It had a Polini race exhaust and polini rollers so it could do 40+mph. It needed new front pads. Part of the reason I paid £500 for it is because it had a personalised plate which was valued at £300, but I've had it for sale since January and noone's bought it. It had about 14,000 miles on it and he told me it had a new barrel and piston at 9000 miles because the first owner didn't run it in properly. It ran great when on the move, but when it was stationary it ran like a sack of sh*t, and would often cut out and not start for 10 mins... I put this down to the carb not being set up for the modifications. I did about 5000 miles like this until, one day when I was going along, a large hole appeared in the polini exhaust. Words cannot describe how loud it was after this! Be wary of aftermarket exhausts as the quality is pap!! I put a genuine Honda exhaust on after that, it's very restrictive but much quieter. It cost about £60. It still had the same running issues but then, about 100 miles later, the engine died completely. The piston rings had completely disintegrated. So a new barrel and piston was fitted for about £60, and it runs like an absolute dream now. I did another 2000 miles or so until last week when it failed it's MOT on the rear shock absorber being completely knackered, front pads being completely knackered and the steering being out of alignment. I've done the front pads again, shock absorber is on order (£60 from Honda) and steering is yet to be done.

That's my entire experience of Honda X8R ownership, sorry it's a tad long. Once I've MOT'd it I'm thinking of selling it and buying something a little bit more 4 stroke for the next 3 months of being 16. >_<

that is a chinese bike but they use honda based engines so the mechanical side of things are there but like a mini you'll be able to watch it rust infront of you as the chinese metal is rubbish. and for all those people who say tune it up and all that but remember that if you do and it the bike exceeds 31mph and the police catch you then you WILL GET POINTS ON YOUR LICENCE OR YOUR LICENCE TAKEN OFF YOU! i got caught by the poice on my moped aged 16 doing 47mph but luckly got away witha slap on the wrists and a warning! i know others who wernt so lucky

Friend had a brand new chinnese monkey bike the engine siezed after 60 miles.....
Fitted a new engine then the electrics went and although you get them cheap no dealer will touch them as they are *melon* and no one wants to buy them
Same with the scooters friend had a sukida thing broke down every week and got next to *melons* all when sold when was only a year old got next to *melons* all
Oh yes and they are all very very slow....
If you want a 50cc scooter highly recommend the piaggio nrg power dd I had one sold for a 125 sr then got another one they are great little scooters. With just a pipe and a de-restrict will see 60mph on the clock approx 50mph real speed it is faster than my mates gpr 50 until top end when he is about 2mph faster up to then I have him killed. Also as far as tunning goes lots of opporunties £450 later mine now has approx 14bhp at the back wheel compared to 5 as standard with the gear up have seen 88mph on the clock will sit at a genuine 65mph+ with ease which for a ped is impresive faster than any 125 scooter by a long way now and can suprise a 172 up to about 40mph. Had a race with a friend on a rs125 beat him to 30 and he did not start to pull away until I had 60 on the clocks they are great little things as standard and even better if you chuck some money at them.

In summary go 2 stroke and get one with a liquid cooled piaggio lump (hyper2) and you cannot go wrong i.e. gillera runner, nrg and the carb sr 50 not the fuel injected model they are naff and avoid a/c always go liquid and try to avoid speedfight as well not as fast and front forks are a bit naff just not as nice as the new nrg or runner.

I used to have an mbk booster ( Yamaha bw's 50 - bizz whizz ).

Done 27 mph out of the showroom ,
Much money spent here

http://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/
Used to get 70 mph easy surprisingly good at wheelies too lol

My test was in Peterborough. The theory was about 10 minutes. Because I was familiar with the Highway Code. I had a practice in the yard riding round cones & made up junctions for about 15 minutes. ( because I had road a bike before )
Then rode out on the roads. For 30 mins. Was really simple.
