Impressive work! I have been thinking of doing the same wooferbox but with one 8inch on each side. Time will tell.. keep it up!

Finally, after sooooo long, some progress.

I got into the garage for about an hour today & re-braced the parcel shelf to the spit so I can remove the wheel arch without taking the whole car off the spit. Then I set about removing the arch, I ground through the seam until it prupled & pealed off which split the two panels then made a start on the inner seam. My spot weld drill went straight thru both sheets of metal as I couldn't make out the difference so I've decided to use the same method as the outside seam & just grind through it until they separate. I'll need to repair some of the lip once the arch is removed but that's not a problem.

Finally got the wheel arch removed, had to take it out in 3 pieces in the end as I couldn't see the spot welds for the bracket, seat back or rear bin so chopped it down til I could grind through & remove it.

Once I've rebuilt the edge lip properly I was thinking of tinning & lead loading the seam around the arch & closing panel area to hopefully reduce any future rusting. I'll be starting on the back of the rear quarter panel as there is a hole & then move on to chopping out the previous bodge of a boot floor at the back. Slowly, but progressing still.

Yip, that's what I'll be doing ;) I've got to order some new genuine parts now too after my mate pointed out the bit's I'll need, gonna be about £250 :-( I never realised the arches were so expensive.

I took the front shock mounts off last night & this was the worst of the two. I'll probably cut out the metal on both sides & replace it just to be sure the rust is all gone & to check underneath.

Mine were all the way through, and there are several layers of metal there!

Can a man of your calibre not fabricate rear arches?

LOL, cheers for the vote of confidence but no, I wouldn't even like to try. It's much more time & cost effective to buy the correct panels that line straight up.
I'll be trying to do as much as I can over the next few days/week as I'm on nights so can get the grinder out without disturbing the neighbours.
I've also got the Volvo to do a bit of work on, I need to repaint the top of the boot above the window to get rid of the scratches, weather dependant of course.
