I had a set of alloys powder coated that colour for my Hyundai Coupe.

They looked lovely when clean!

Yeah it's a non metallic & pretty close to the old slate grey on some of the old Rovers you see floating around. Plus it's different as not many people would have the same colour. Hows the deseaming going?

Just a couple of pics of the painted under floor. I've only painted the bits that are finished as I still need to cut out & replace a lot of pieces. This is just 1 coat, rollered on, of Rustoleum Combi-color RAL7001 but the final colour will be RAL7015 which is darker Slate Grey, I still have to buy though.

I wasn't sure whether to stone chip or not but decided that as the combi-colour stays slightly flexible, and I'm going to put about 4 coats on underneath, that I probably wouldn't need it. (Plus I dont have a compressor ;-) ) I'll probably regret that decision but only time will tell.

I also have a few plans for underneath the car that will protect most of it but won't divulge any secrets just yet ;-)

Not really, I suppose I could hire 1 for a day (£85ish / weekend) once I had everything ready to go. Two of my mates have them but they are big 100L tank one's so not good for transporting.

You can borrow mine if you want

It could do with a longer hose on though

Cheers for that. I'll let you know if I need it as now I've already got paint on the car I don't know how any stonechip would react if put over it. I'll have to research a bit more as I don't really want to be taking all the fresh paint off again.

Holy crap it's been 19 months since I posted anything!!!

Unfortunately I don't have any progress to report as life has got in the way 7 she hasn't moved since the last photos. However we have now decided to re-start the work on Fern with the aim (unrealistic or not) of having her MOT'd by the time the IMM '14 is here. I do have a friend who used to have his own car restoration shop who's an expert on mini's that will be helping me with the welding so IF I can get that done quickly I can get on with finishing the paint & putting her back together. We're not worried if she looks a bit patchwork as long as she is rust free, safe to drive & legal then we'll be there!

Basically 6 months to the day from now! No pressure.

Wish me luck :)

I know. I've got my mate coming over on Friday to make a start & I've got to have the garage cleared out of all the little bits that have been piling up in there since I last worked on her. Tick-tock, tick-tock!
