nope wrong yours has the L braket.

Posted Image

if you look down your body when fully open with this still there/ not cut youll find it isnt fully open, dont know if you have any posh tools to measure this but im 100% definite on it, my throttle opens just that little more (still not full) but you can hear the difference. if you wanted it to open full you would need to add another bracket to the side of it and adjust that to suit.

his butterfly is in the 100% open position thus fully open

surely cutting that won't make him a difference because he's already at the extent of travel to stop point.

I'm lost for words :xxx:

Considering I managed 95bhp and 101lbft with a completely standard unmodified throttle body and linkage, what do you think you have gained by alowing the throttle to open another 1% perhaps. I'll tell you, absolutely naff all :D

There is confusion. This 'L bracket' mod relates to the MPi, and even then the theory is suspect.

You'll surely gain more doing some work on the butterfly than removing that. Pretty useless.

I too have a Kent 274 in my SPI and can barely notice any difference in the idle to the standard cam, not lumpy at all.

The 274 is a fairly mild cam. It feels a bit more torquey throughout the range but I haven't noticed any staggering performance improvement. I am however still running a standard head, rockers, inlet manifold, air box etc. I suspect it would have more of an effect in combination with a worked head and oversized valves. The hotter, lumpy cams tend to cause problems with the injection cars as they play havoc with the MAP reading to the ECU. They also make it incredibly hard to get through the emissions tests come MOT time.

reading up on the 274 and it looks like its not far off 276 with the sameish lift but with a short duration.

probabably for the mapping reasons like you said.
