I know, sat on the train home with a lad off here. Can't remember what his TMF name is but he's called Aaron.

Getting some welding practice in tomorrow so when I'm allowed my next load of overdraft, I can buy some panels :)

It's a CLARKE one from Machine Mart, he got it on a VAT free day.

Where can I get the brackets from? the ones that attach to the rocker studs.

The ones from Mini Spares will do nicely =] cheers.

Dad has come climbing carabiners & straps so we can use them.

Hopefully going to construct a spit soon as well, we've got the dimensions.

Hi Analogue radio

I love your project, coming along nicely, it's nice when your parents think about you and provide a nice warm enviroment to work in makes life so much easier and more bearable, in relation to the spit if you look on my thread I uploaded plans and a steel cutting list for a spit the other week, this may help you out.
Keep up the good work

Cheers

Andy

Well back in the day my Dad had all the cars that we would consider retro & classic now, he was even a rally driver at one point, and my late Grandad was always tinkering in the garage. Dad has taken on two of his old motorbikes and bits of a third. So the Garage is a 'haven' for us two, my mini and his motorbikes.. and anything else to come in the future :xmas:

This time last year the garage wasn't built and I remember working in the driveway in the drizzle, fingers numb trying to fiddle around getting nuts on bolts =]

& I'll take a look at the plans, cheers Andy

Not a great deal of progress today, I was busy this morning delivering leaflets and I'm babysitting tonight. Any chance when I'm back from Uni to earn money =]

Tidied up the garage a lot, sorted through all my bits. Organised into boxes or thrown away.

I've got a set of rear shocks and a set of brake drums for free, come and pick them up. If no one wants them then I'll throw them.

Before Christmas the rear subframe WILL be done, possibly the engine put back together as well.

Managed to practice some welding today, on some proper steel with the correct grade wire this time. So it was a better starting point.

Posted Image
Dad practicing.

Posted Image
His first two.

Posted Image
Me welding.

Posted Image
My first two.

Posted Image
Quite a nice tidy weld I did, although it's quite thick.. which would be bad for grinding down. But if it's hidden it'd be fine.

Posted Image
Then I tried welding two bits together, and ground it down to make it flat.

Posted Image
Three bits welded together, really messy untidy welds. Definitely need more practice with tacking and filling in.
