I feel your pain in balancing running an older car with uni. I had to sell my Mk1 XR2 halfway through uni
I wish I'd kept it now, but at the time it was suffering as I didn't have the cash, or time, to look after it properly.

Mm.. no progress due to a serious lack of money, with Christmas and all I haven't had any spare money to spend on the mini. But.. I've managed to get my job back over Christmas at Tesco, 12 hour shift on one of the days
I promise you will start to see updates soon

Dad and I went down to a friends in the village, I had no idea he was into minis.. turns out he has all his life, ever since he was a young'en. Hidden away in a barn he has got his project, not a clue what he is doing with it.. wants something rapid and quick off the mark. Thinking as far as a Z-car. But the main reason we went down was to look at his spit, albeit its very beefy & sturdy. I guess he has used off cuts of girders left around the farm.
The spit is perfect though, it doesnt penetrate the mini.. just bolts onto the front subby turrets and the rear shock turrets. It moves freely on some roller bearings & it is high enough off the floor to let it spin freely.
Gives Dad and I a good idea of how to build are spit.

Thats a good spit, dont think ive seen one put up like that before. If I was you I would be getting cheeky and getting your friend down to yours to offer assistance
Been refurbing any parts lately? Christmas presents to crack on with?

Later today I'll attempt some bodywork, or carry on with getting the rear subby made up.
& nope, but I've been working hard lately so I've got a nice sum of money to spend in the new year

Got my list of bits to buy to complete the rear subby so I'll focus on that first.
What I've managed today,

Almost there, I even want to go as far as buying the wheel nuts and getting the wheels on.
Once I am happy everything is together and working as it should, I'll take certain bits apart and apply some copper grease.

Looking great mate.
The mk2 lights are quite an easy conversion.
Just fit them, they slot into the original holes, then it's a case of matching the wires. I was goign to go out and find a manual to see what wires were which.
But I got bored of that and just used a meter to find when the wires were live and just connected them.
Make sure you get the smaller rubber seals aswell.
Only took me around 30 mins to have mine in and working. I removed the multi plug and used a chocolate block connector.
Keep up with the good work, you'll be finished in no time.
