First area I decided to attack, the whole bulkhead needs an overhaul but this area just needed a clean up.

Taken back to bare metal.

Etch primed.

Coated in Red Oxide.

Dusted over with High Build primer.

Final coat in High Build.

End result! looking tidy.

I have to admit this took two attempts, first time when I did the last coat in High Build it just ran and looked awful. I decided to take it back to bare metal and try again, this time adding the spot lamps for heat. Much happier!

Good work, are you using a wire brush drill attachment to take it backto bare metal?

Yep you are! Just invested in an adjustable speed grinder from B&Q, i tried my wire knot attachment in my other grinders and the 1st on warped it due to it being about 3000 rpm more.

How much is a helicoil kit? would a second hand gearbox casing been a cheaper option?

Ben

We are actually borrowing a helicoil kit so it'll hopefully be cheap & transferring the internals from one gearbox to another is just unnecessary hassle.

Just rang up John Whiteman Engineering and we are picking the subframes and box of bits up tomorrow :w00t:

Oh and it's payday :teehee: :mrcool:
