Little bit of progress, been waiting on little parts that hold up the whole build, but they're coming in slowly

Got the crank back in, all torqued up, quite stiff, but its smooth, no notchy bits.

Built up my Minispares X-Pin diff, put new diff bearings in too

Got the block on the 'box and placed the head on, to give it a first coat of paint!

Small update, been hoarding more parts ready for christmas break when i can crack on again

Got me a diddy alloy FMIC off ebay, brand new, perfect size for the front of a mini. Under bonnet fuel pressure gauge kit, Sytec fuel filter and 5 meters of stainless braided fuel hose.

Popped home for the night for a friends leaving do, so took advantage of a spare 10 minutes and popped on the new shoes to check how much they protrude so i can order some arches.

Obviously theres no weight in the car so it will go lower, and i'll wind down the Hi-Lo's too, should be able to get it sitting nicely with the tubbed arches

Now that christmas is out the way i've made a little more progress on this

Firstly i have undersealed the rear wheel wells:

I then put in my homemade headliner, made from 5mm thick black rubber foam. Pain in the ass to try and hold it up to the roof and mark it out, but managed to get it just right so that it tucks in the lip around the roof and holds itself in, then just put a few strips of 'No More Nails' double sided tape in the middle to stop it sagging: I think it look's pretty good :)

And obviously the roll cage has been bolted in:

More to come next week!

DPD delivered my GP2 arches at 18:45. Very Impressed!

Had to go an stick one on to see what they look like. Now im torn between what colour to paint them. Black to match the roof or grey to match the body?

Hmmm..

Looking good matey, always had a fondness for grey minis.

Black arches to match the roof.
They would look properly weird in grey...

Black detailing will suit the roof,

Also bought a load of 1/4" and 5/16" nuts, bolts and washers as im sick of not having the right one and having to resort to putting an old rusty bolt in there

Posted Image

Also got the brake line to rear run through the car

Little update

Got my 4 gallon OBP fuel tank in. Basically bridged two sections of alu angle across the boot which the tank sits in, then will use straps to hold it down.

Filter and pump setup will live in the battery box, as the battery is being moved inside the cabin.

Gave up on doing any more though as it's freezing cold in the garage and i can't feel my feet or hands :ohno:

Little bit done today

Got the fuel filter and pump mounted in the boot. Used a simple method, just riveted some off cuts of angle iron to the spare wheel well and then used cable ties to strap the filter and pump on.

Posted Image

Fabricated a little bracket for the fuel pressure regulator and mounted that to the bulkhead

Posted Image

Posted Image

Also put my skateboard grip tape in the footwells. Just waiting on my inline fuel tap and some more fuel hose so i can finish off the fuel system for good.
