Looks great - what are you doing about wipers/wiper motors. Does it all still package with the overflow bottle position?

Sorry for the late reply I've been working in Mexico!
Yeah, I had it on the road last year, it's currently on sorn at the minute. One thing I will suggest is unless you're going for a track car use a helical box, first gear is ridiculous! mine does 45-50mph in first, I'm using a 3.1CWP as it's good for all round use and SC recommend using that or 3.2, but that tallish FD coupled with the CR box and revvy engine don't make it the easiest thing in traffic. I am tempted to take the box off and put the original back on!
When you fit the 32-1 pickup, use some anti-shake washers under the bolt, mine spun loose on harsh acceleration and died a couple of times. I tried loctite and normal spring washers but neither worked, fitted anti-shake washers and its been fine since.
The MOT was a bit of a pain! Luckily I have a friendly MOT guy who's a bit old school and into his modified cars :) Basically it was impossible to hold it at 3000rpm for the emissions. What age of car are you using??
Apart from those few things it has been pretty good, and puts a smile on my face whenever I drive the thing!?

I just hadn't fitted the wiper motor yet when that photo was taken, yes header tank in original position as per photo's
Here's how she looks now..

Cheers rich. im using an old metro block. idea behind that is to try and get around emissions as they will test it for the age of the motor.
Thanks for the info, my intention was to use a helical box with possibly straight cut drops. still a bit undecided on the diff though, was going to run a 3.2 possibly.

Yeah, if you can use an a-series block it'd be even easier to get through!! ha. I stupidly used an MPi block, but I also used the front mounted rad, I'm not sure if it was the best idea but I wanted to use the standard stuff for that age of car
That would definitely be the best route, I think I may well change to that setup 3.2 would give you a little more acceleration as well.

yea its an a-series, but out of a metro, would you recommend a side mount rad then?

Yeah Rich a clubby, (as seen in my build link below) so room shoudn't be a problem. Just with the ITG filter set up I can't see how the throttle cable routes. Obviously it does because it's on the one above. Have you had any problems with crankcase breathing? And is yours just breathing into to atmosphere or to vacuum? One last thing where did you locate a temp gauge sender?
Thanks
I remember reading your build thread, lovely mini!
I'm unsure on the routing of the throttle cable... so can't really comment on it.
Mine does breath a little bit, it's just vented to atmosphere through a small K&N type filter, on the left hand side of the head(red circle). I was tempted to put it to vacuum, but I read that this can cause problems with emissions, and as I have enough problems with emissions anyway(due to age) I didn't want to compound the issue.
With the coolant sensor, I used the Specialist Components head outlet and the sensor screws into that, using the BMW sensor.![]()
I am waiting deliver of my SC kit. So was pretty inspiring reading this thread.
I was a little puzzled by the SPI really packs. Did you need to keep these? I am swapping from an SPI.
Also like you I will be keeping the servo and using the vac pickups from the TBs
Cheers
Craig
