Hi
As i cannot drive yet:( i do not have a clue on the top speed of my 1979 Austin Mini 1000
This has really bugged me as i wish to know what it is.
Does anyone know what it is, or know of any sites that can tell me?
Thanks

If its a completely standard I reckon it will hit about 80-85
My uncles 998 hits 84 top speed

I agree that a 998cc would get to about 84 with the wind on your side and going downhill BUT I wouldn't say it was very good for them, it's pushing them to the max. But as Asphalt points out, does it really matter?!

I reckon the top speed they're comfortable with is about 60-65 depending on the age and condition of the engine ...

...be kind to the minis and they'll be kind to you!! :shifty:

if its a well looked after engine it should be good for 80+ but with a mini you shouldnt be really lookin for top speed you can have more fun in the bends at slower speed

110? Is that a bit over exaggerated??

My mini, coming from oldbury Northbound got upto 118mph there. Mind, it was down hill slightly, and i lost a wheel arch... So dunno if that counts.
