So if I buy a genuine scuttle with the lip up how will this be welded on etc?
Cheers

You need something to weld the new scuttle onto first!!

You can see daylight though it, that means the inner flitch is shot as well.

The window lip that the scuttle attaches to will also need considerable work as well.

Yeah it only has that hole because my dad decided to poke it lol
Yeah the flitch is shot but will be getting one and welding that on how does that go on?
Could the window lip be patched?

Replacing a flitch properly is heavy going. When Minis are assembled, welding the flitch to the bulkhead is pretty much the first joint made so you have to go through a lot of other panels to get to it. Good luck.

You may hate me for saying this, but do you really know what your taking on with this car? Its a pretty much a basket case and will need a shed load more work than I think you realise.

I've seen the pictures and you're looking at a panel bill of £700-£1000 just to get it sound and solid again, not to mention the hundreds of hours welding.

It may be better to find a less ripe car to restore.

Trust me, I ve done enough of em to know how much they cost!!

Pair of floors - £100x2
scuttle - £100
Wings - £35x2
Front panel - £50
A-panels £10x2
Rear 1/4 £35 x2
Boot floor - £25
Lower boot hinge £75
Door steps - £15
Crossmember - £55
Valence - £10
Valence stiffeners - £15x2
Heelboard - £100
Subframe closing plates - £10x2
Inner sill stiffeners - £15x2
Door skins - £25x2
Boor floor corners - £15x2

I'm not sure how much the full flitches are, also depends on the state of the toeboard,

Thats just for starters!!

Theres also companion bins, front shock mounts and rear wheel arches.

It soon adds up.

Fair enough, believe it or not I am actually trying to help you. I've done enough cars over the years to know what it take to do a 1/2 decent job of one. Regardless of what you think of my list that is what you'll need to do decent job on the car.

I, think what shifty is trying to say is that once you start removing panels to do the repairs you have spotted, you will end up buying pretty much all the panels on the list and you also can't always get away with the cheapest panels as some fit terribly.

derusting a mini works on the iceberg theory, theres a lot more under the surface

Mini's, you gotta love em

So far the only panels I have welded on are the front and rear drivers floor pan but when I did this I made sure I had the panels and cut them to fit.
I will cut out once I have the panels if you know what I mean
Cheers anyway mate

I have a feeling your gonna end up with a mini with no stiffener panels judging by your response to shifty...
