I'm almost positive I have a set of 3.44:1 gears Stock
Is a 3.1 ok to run on a stage1 998 ?

I'm thinking 12" x 5.5 and add some mild flares.

I plan to rebuild the motor this winter.
The car has no brakes at the moment. I though the master was out of juice but now I'm thinking it needs rebuilt. $80.00 USD later.

I'm selling the golf.
I just picked up an austin america 1300. I'm planning a full rebuild of the motor. while it is out I'll repaint the bay and freshin up the suspension.
I've pulled apart the head and I'm planning on having it checked at our local machine shop.

I'm pretty sure the engine is bored 20over so I'll pull the pistons and get it all measured. I want to get it cleaned up and honed. hopefully the pistons are in good shape so I don't have to replace them. All seals and bearings are getting replaced as well.
I took the head to our local shop yesterday and they are going to look over it and give me a list of what it needs. One valve was a little stuck so I assume guides and seals for sure. Should I have the head just plained or get it cut down a bit more to raise the compression?
ANY ADVICE AT THIS POINT WOULD BE HELPFUL

anyways. I started pulling apart the engine. I'd like some assistance identifying the pistons if possible.
I just took shots of the Mic'd size of the piston and also the rod bearing areas on the crank to see if the crank is still untouched.

Bearing size;

Another piston marking:

Another marking.
