wow. mine has a ton of changes then. I'll double check the numbers on my engine. But I'm about sure that it's a 998.... It's slow enough to be. :)

I'll keep my eyes pealed for your project. Thanks again,
Tom

you wouldn't happen to have a taller final drive would ya? I need to get one of those also. The new motor should be powerful enough to handle it.

Pistons arived. The main bearings are here too. I'll drop off the pistons at the machine shop tomorrow so they can measure the proper bore. Then $$$

THey called the other day asking where the one intake valve was...... I never ordered it. so I did. it should be here Monday.. Gawd this is becomming a money pit.

Got the car moved to my garage. It was a nice 500' drive to my house. now the motor/subframe is gonna come out.

Dropped off my pistons, valve and rods to the machine shop. They are going to mount the pistons to the rods and bore the block. I'll do the final assembly.

Engine and subframe are out. I'll split the two of them tomorrow. I'm gonna strip the subframe and have it sand blasted along with the suspension pieces. I'll get some paint done a while in the bay.

Pics tomorrow. g-night.

while you have the engine out perfect opportunity to spray the engine bay (bulk head and lower pannel)

I would use a wire brush and some parrafine / white spirit

then paint with some POR 15 or anti rust primer and then some Tetra shultz or wax oil paint

get it all uniform and rust free :D

Got a little more done last night with the time I had. I removed both spindles and disconnected the axles from the diff. How do you get the axles out of the subframe? they almost fit.

I removed all the brake lines as well to clean up and paint. Lots of missmatched bolts.. not sure how this car held together.

I also got a shot of my white Cabriolet I put together. I really like driving that car. I put a 98 Cabrio Engine into it after a full rebuild. It also has a full CE2 wiring. BBS body kit as well. Its supposed to be the wifes car. haha.

Also a buddy of mine sent me a photo of a sign I though was proper. :)

ANybody have a 3.1 final drive they want to part with?

I took apart the subframe. I have it in the trunk of my Jetta to take to the sand blasters today.

I'm having a ******* of a time getting the flywheel off of the taper. Why wouldn't they just bolt it to the crank? I still shake my head and wonder with these cars sometimes.

I pulled apart my axles and cleaned them. I'm gonna pick up some new grease for them. Boots are in good shape.

It pays to use the right tool. I had the flywheel off within 30 seconds with the Snap-on harmonic balancer puller I borrowed from work.

The correct size for the Flywheel bolts is Metric M-10 x 1.25. I've read of a couple people stripping out these bolt holes and it's probably because their using 3/8s which are smaller.

I got a call from the sand blaster. my subframe is done. I'm gonna pick it up over lunch break today. I'll pick up some paint also.

The tranny looks good inside. I just need to swap out the 2nd gear syncro and a 3.1 final drive if I could find one........hint hint.
