Thanks a lot ! Better in the flesh I'm told
My missus would kill me building an engine in the house. Love it!
She tried....lots..... However I have been dealt an eviction notice for what is now the nursery as we are pregnant yay !!!
Awesome build !
Many thanks
The inner bush diameters should be 3-5 thou clearance on the crank and there should be 3-6 thou end float once installed with the c-clip etc
Diamond thanks for the info still to receive the head and gear box so may be some time lol

O dear god ! I did not sell it ! Just moved to a new secure location! (Away from the soon to be nursery and the wife)
I have received my cylinder head and i must say swiftune do produce some stunning cylinder heads! Porting work is superb !
Now I have a problem, do I either get a refurb kit and build my gear box? Or do I maybe separate the 998 and use the box off of that ? And in the mean time save for a dog box ?! I have straight cut drops, so working out what to do now advice would be helpful
Many thanks

Update time !
been an interesting few months since i last done an update, a few things have gone some horribly wrong.
managed to get my mini to a new lock up so its secure and i have room to work,
the strip out of the old engine is on, whilst i have the engine out i will be perfoming an engine bay tuck, all the electrics will be rung though the inside of the car to the inner wing, so there is no clutter in the bay,the fuse box will be relocated to the inside of the bulkhead, im trying to wokr out how to mount the wiper motor internally to so the the engine bay is clutter free.
a few pictures to show you all
starting the strip down of the ancillaries to the 1014cc been a very worthy little engine! should make a very good spare, unless someone offered me the right money and can have a stonking 998 !
engine out day cam out with ease, no damage no scratches to paint work good girl
New FIA head from Swiftune 19cc 37mm x 31mm Valves
1.5 forged rockers and a smiffys stainless steel blank, however it was too shiney so mounted it upside down looked pukka!!
The H4's have been treated to a refurbish polish and lacquer with VHT lacquer and the manifold has been treated to a heat resistant crackle black paint,
exhaust manifold we are using for the engine is going to be my current Stage 2 1275 lcb as kad have not seen a difference between this and full race manifolds on the historic engines, this is the same manifold that ian curleys FIA racer is currently running, only difference is my manifold is being sent away to zircotec to be ceramic coated to help reduce under bonnet temperatures its good for 1250 degrees !
Currently im awaiting a FD to suit my LSD for the Gearbox to turn up and then it will have a box on the engine will then be built and taken down to KAD for it to be run in and setup on there DYNO
not long until London to Brighton so the build is on, no pressure ..... Honest !
thanks for viewing peeps probably far to many photos however allows me to keep track

So a bit long since my last update,
More things done and fighting to find time to work on the mini let alone do an update on here however the wife has me waiting around for something,
so a few updates,
so 6 weeks before london to brighton i really needed to crack on i went skiing for the first time ever, first day, first lesson this happened
which just before im trying to go for a big rebuild to get the car ready for L2B was great !
Bulkhead/Engine bay.
it has been cut, welded, filled, painted so i can get a smooth bulkhead, b e it be getting rid of unnecessary holes bits i dont need or use, i have performed a tuck on the following Wiper motor, wiring loom, fuse box, everything to give a clear clean appearance !
this was it upon removal of the engine, looking messy untidy etc i generally disliked my engine bay as in show and shines it was this that was costing me my vaulable points that i need,
all the holes welded up and in paint, ready for the rebuild !
all ready for its new engine now !
Interior
yet again have had to sort the odometer out, this time speedo was working but the arm that does the 0.1 of a mile had got stuck so i took it all aprt and whilst i was putting it back together gave the speedo a splash of smoke grey.
Engine
the juicy bit
all assembled and ready for dyno at KAD
manifold has been cermaic coated by performance 1 coatings to help reduce under bonnet tempteratures
loading onto the dyno
Rockers adjusted after re torque of head, and re gapped to 015" ready for power runs !
That idle !!! OMG
work done on the way back to the van
everything on ready to go !
first time she saw daylight in a while and not been in the sweat box !
so one evening i thought yeh im feeling strong enough to do this and my shoulder was in a good enough condition o how wrong i was shoulder gave way half way through which meant hiring the help of dad and brother and simlair to there last help getting the engine in history repeated itself.............. the sledge hammer was brought out
after alot of jiggling around and persuading the engine mounts to line up engine was in and that was us done for another day !
with penny looking like an abandoned barn find
the next morning i was raring to go, so it was manifolds on, rad, order a new MED lightweight alternator as mine looked shocking
happy 42nd escape lonbridge day (birthday)
starting to Remember what my show car looked like !
Engine bay 90% finished a few more bits and then we are good for the final reassembly and final clean
i am happy with badge on my grill looks a bit different to before.
started it up ! picks up so quick in the car with the featherweight flywheel!
The first time i drove it with the new engine can you tell im happy look at that face !!
more updates to come very shortly

Looking smart, but I must admit those types of breather hose and the alloy elbow really spoil the look of all engine bays (not just yours).
I'm sure it must be possible to get a nicely curved black rubber hose of the right ID and get rid of that joint.
