4 doesnt look any where near as bad as 1 in that last picture. I still reckon the problem is on number 1

You may be right. But on this picture You can see that no4 is not a way better.

I have tried the engine with 3 cylinders running and one plug removed to see how much oil it throws out. Belive it or not, there was NO oil comming out. Soo it must be connected with suction or compression somehow. Only cyl. no4 gave some very slight oil out. But realy limited amount (only enough to turn my hand a bit shiny from oil).

Somebody asked it recently: the engine only starts to smoke when hot. Although may such up the oil cold, but no wisible smoke. Realy nothing.

Correct order, facing correct side, no gaps inline.

the only other thing I can think of is valve stem oil seals on inlet valves............

the oil ring on the pistons isnt slightly damaged is it you may not be able to see the damage too easily but we have had a broken one at work which took ages to find

First I had normal seals, but later changed for Subaru items - with no success.

I know you've done several compression tests, I don't remember if you mentioned (or if anyone suggested earlier) that you do a leak-down test. That will mean putting the head back on and finding a way to lock the crank in position (so it won't be easy with the engine out of the car) but it will likely tell you where the leak path is.

15-16 psi compression??? Does it even run at all?? Do you mean bar? Are all the compresions similar to each other, if so, id say its got something to do with the cylinder head, like guides or stemseals. Is it blue smoke? Does it chuck out a load of smoke when you first start it after its been standing for a while, like overnight? Also what oil are you using? Oil gets thinner the hotter it gets as well

Number one cylinder in the picture above still shows the worst. Just look at the inlet valve, its wet, the others are not. Could the machinist have broken into the oil gallery on cylinder 1 and 4 while fitting the liners and when the engine is warm, the oil is working its way up between the block and liner into the chamber?. What size liners are they? What size pistons are fitted?

Its well known that boring to 73.5mm and above can be a hit and miss affair at times. There are two oil galleries to the left of cylinder four, and one to the right of cylinder one. All cylinders have the main gallery run across the front of them.

have a look in the ports, can you see oil running down the valve stems?
