Looking good.

All the small block castings are pretty much the same.

Whats the gearbox number?

More importantly, where did you get it from?

Chris

i need to give the box a good degreasin before i go searching for numbers. it was stripped off a 1.5 corsa td so im hoping its the original box lol :) Dean

I thought W355 was a 1.3td, or is it not an F17?

What ever it is its bound to be better than your old one.

I guess im stuck with ebay for my box :) never used ebay before

looks like an F13, Most probably has come off a desiel.

assuming your rev limit is 6000rpm, and that the box is what i think it is.

Speed @ Limit 1st 24.51 Mph

Speed @ Limit 2nd 44.39 Mph

Speed @ Limit 3rd 66.93 Mph

Speed @ Limit 4th 97.77 Mph

Speed @ Limit 5th 122.55 Mph

70 comes in at about 3400 rpm in 5th.

Means you have a 3.94 Diff with a Wide gear set. That will probably mean a 1.96 second gear.

I know this as I used to use a Nova in Stock Car racing, hence why I know the 2nd gear ratios :-

This may also help -

c=close ratio w=long
Most common in nova/corsa is gonna be 4.1 Diff/1.96 2nd gear, some of the early 1000cc/1200cc used 3.7 Diff with the 2.2 2nd or the odd 4.3 Diff corsa
The only way to find out is to take the gear cluster out as as someone may have changed the internals during the cars life. Or the Stock car boys may have nicked them !! :(

Here is a list of diffs - The number of notches in the end of the crown wheel gear on the Diff will identify it.

6 NOTCH 3:5
5 NOTCH 3.7.7
3 NOTCH 3.9.4
0 NOTCH 4.1.8
1 NOTCH 4.2.2
2 NOTCH 4.5

Not wanting to disagree as i don't know vauxhall stuff, but google searches keeps bringing up a F17 with that code

Ill either be swapping to that type, or MK1 style, edging towards mk1 at the moment because of the practicality.
