This weekend I replaced the speedometer cable. The Haynes manual suggests accessing the pinion end of the cable through the drive shaft opening in the sub frame. Umm, maybe a child's hand might fit, but mine would not. I ended up having to remove the radiator and hoses to gain access. I also discovered that the new heater valve was not opening enough to allow water to flow. Bending the lever stop on the valve allowed it to open enough. I wish I had checked that before buying a new heater matrix...

Attempted to replace rubber exhaust hangers as they're shot.
Jacked up car, turned away to grab axel stand .......... bang, jack fails in spectacular fashion

Lesson about never working under a car when it's jacked up reinforced.
Put car on ramps, replaced rubbers and noticed that garage has made a hash job of fitting the new handbrake cable. Arghhhhhh

Thought about fitting new wheels.

Washed and polished.

That is all

I bypassed my heater matrix to stop it leaking while I wait for a new one. apparently you shouldn't do this but don't really know what else I can do as it still leaked with the heater valve shut. lost 2 litres in 90 odd miles :o

Not done anything on any of my Minis recently but I did get some new welding clamps, a pair of KAD camber/toe brackets and tie bars during the week.

I also just won a Cosmic throttle pedal although I have no idea what I'm going to use it on.
