Been busy today; first I cut down my pressure relief valve spring as the oil pressure was too high and did an oil change, I then sorted my speedo drive so I now have a working speedo - that's a total of 5/7 working gauges on my dash! Also knocked in my core plugs a bit more as they weren't quite sealing properly. Then I fitted another rear bumper as the last fell off as I got to my lock up.

Taxed it for another 6months. It is the smallest, oldest and least powerful car out of the 3 we have, but is the most expensive to tax >_<

Taxed mine for a year for the grand price of £0  (oldest, least powerful and cheapest of our three, it's less fun taxing the Discovery tho!)

Today I removed the engine, stripped it down to head, block, gearbox. Fitted new timing chain and sprockets. Next few weeks will see much cleaning, painting and rebuilding onto a different gearbox, new oil pump, water pump, thermostat, gaskets etc and hopefully all back in and running again for the spring coming in.

My dad recently got hold of a second hand 2 post garage lift, that in conjunction with an electric winch mounted in the garage roof made it all a piece of cake, (beats last time lifting the mini off the front subframe to remove an engine!)

Took it for a blast with Iain. Stopped at W&P for a few bits and pieces. Went up to Newlands Corner. Ate a bacon roll. Then the wind caught my door and hit Iains car, luckily no damage as (what I can only assume is) Dulux emulsion is so soft.

Rest is ready for the pot now.

Went for a 150 mile blast around Surrey with Stiggytoo, encountering floods, rain and wind. And poor Gerald was wounded when the wind took Tims door and hit it into the side of him :( a quick T cut later and some damage has been repaired :) both minis were reliable with whatever was thrown at them :)

Don't forget the part about the bacon roll. No story is ever truly complete without it.

I panicked because the Mini was over heating at idle. I joined the forum and now it's sorted. Why did I not join sooner?
