Gave it the once over ready for Blackpool tomorrow, and had to go for a little spin it. It would be rude not to

Cleaned and waxed him ready for the secret pre run tomorrow and tightened up the fan belt on my brothers mini

Removed the radius arm because I had forgotten to fit all the bits to it in my excitement at getting the rear subby back on. Then my son and I prepped the wheel arch for a small patch that I need to add, cleaned all the old protection off, etch primed it and my son finished off chiseling all the old bitumen off the floor. He found that a wire wheel after the chisel and then lots of white spirit is the way to get it all off.

 

I put shims in to the new front ball joints. I shall grease them up tomorrow ready to fit, and cleaned and primed both the patch and the bracket that sits on the gear stick hub for want of a better word for it.

 

Oh we also painted the rear hubs and drums in enamel, high temperature paint. Awful stuff and horrible fumes but it does the job. 

 

I do spend time wondering why I am painting stuff that nobody will ever see  - but them I remember its because I will know its there

 

Sorry for the long post but I really feel like we are making progress now.

Stripped all the bitumen off the floors total pita.

Another bike ride to drop off some parts. Not alot done today, fitted new shiny coil bracket and cleaned engine block in preperation for the new paint arriving next week.

Went to 2 shows first was on Blackpool Sea Front and after a couple of hours called in on the Mega Mini Meet in Lytham

fitted new window rubber, window regulator and wind deflector. Never again !!

The engine and gearbox back together, corrected the selector fork position re wired boot light rewired fuse box wired the centre speedo almost all working now new head gasket and fitted a new fuel pump and spark plugs I think that was it

Sorted out a space in my garage ready for its return tomorrow!!

Fitted some spacered minifin style drums to the front. So far, so ****.

Ripped out more cables and put some back took my starter

Got it running again after taking the engine out to replace the idler bearing nd a couple of other bits.
