Removed the rear subframe for a refurb. This is the first time it has been off that I'm aware (1996)

Two of the boot floor bolts snapped but all 4 heal board bolts came out lovely and even look clean and shiny on the threads! Bonus!

Continued with the slow progress under the rear, and found a few more rust holes in the drivers rear arch.

Fitted a new choke cable, and took it for a run in the sun.

Drove it to a classic car garage for them to get it through the MOT as it failed on the dreaded emissions in March. I enjoyed the 50 min drive, just hope they get the little sod to pass.

Stripped the fuel gauge sender, found the rheostat wire had broken halfway across, ordered a new one.

Fitted new rear speakers as per this thread:

Another lockdown, fiddly job that I've put off for far too long.

The backplate on my radiator grille was corroded and looking sorry for itself.

Removed the aluminium trim, stripped the paint, ground off the rust, painted and re-assembled it.

One of those many, weird, Mini jobs that you don't see when you've done them. Satisfying, nevertheless, or maybe that's the effect of the Single Malt I'm sipping as I type this.

Acquired new engine. Now the interesting bit of getting it taken apart and seeing what needs doing.

wooooo hooooo mini past MOT no advisory's not even a mention of emission. bloody strange how it varies from garage to garage. anyway very happy can get it back out and enjoy it... on another note ordered a new fuel sender unit as its not worked for ages, whipped the old one out and the float is full of petrol... that would do it. New one on the way so for the first time in ages I wont have to keep dipping the tank!
