Today I fitted a very nice new black carpet set from Coverdale
https://www.carcarpe...nge-68514-p.asp

Despite the low miles the original cheap carpet was rather worn out.

Not the easiest thing to do, but it looks very nice now.

Annoyingly the heater is now slowly dripping coolant. I hope it just didn't like being moved about, but worst case scenario, I'll need to replace the matrix.

For the price of a matrix it's worth replacing with a new one, the latest mini ones are approaching 25 years old. I'd personally opt for an all metal type if you can get one

Yes, I think you're right. It's just a bit of a pain, as it was all coming together very nicely.
I assume these https://thecarheater...x-1984-to-1992/ are the ones to have?

Dripping heater or not, we went out to a local classic car meet the other day and the Mini was very popular with people.

Fitted new front and rear heated screens with new rubbers and chrome inserts.

Well I say fitted but I more watched Rich from Minispares fit them for me.

The front screen was a real PITA and took several attempts to get a decent fit. Fortunately the rear was a little easier.

Rich did an awesome job and a great help and asset to Minispares. Having seen the challenge of the front screen I am sure I would not have been able to fit on my own!!

Many thanks.

Just done Coolant change on one of my minis
Radiator and engine flushed out, was very dirty brown water. Radiator cleanser in run up to temp then flushed again. Nice and clean now topped up with anti freeze.
Ready for a run round peak district later on today.
Oil change tomorrow I think.

Fitted a servo to the front brake circuit of my 1980 clubman estate, in preparation for fitting S discs.  Not a usual setup but apparently Innocenti built some of their cars that way. Stops with a quite a bit less foot pressure.

Had an oh **** moment when my fuel gauge showed empty earlier-I’m driving along fruitlessly taping the gauge like a ww2 bomber pilot😂
Thankfully I’d just knocked a wire off the tank sender so should be ok
Other than that , just been driving and enjoying the car, getting lots of comments and looks in town.it’s great to be back in a mini.couple of little jobs to do, oil leak that seems to be from the oil pressure relief valve, so ordered a copper washer for that.

I had an electrical day today, and connected up my 12v socket,

I also wired in my new stereo, having made a housing for it a couple of days ago.

Both are working great, and now I have Apple CarPlay.

I also wired up the spotlights I bought, and although they look good they, sadly, do not work.

The relay clicks when I put high-beam on, but I get no lights. Not really sure what's wrong there, as I'm sure I wired everything correctly and earthed the light brackets.
