Our local yob rides a souped up chicken chaser
we live on a long straight stretch of road.
Came home one day he ran out in the middle of the road
with a very large rock ready to be launched in his hand.
Braked hard but not hard enough OOPS and sat him on the bonnet of my van.
He then rang the police, well officer there was I standing in the middle of the road with a rock in my hand!
Turns out they were well aware of him, lost his licence just after that.

John

Get the two pedals on the right mixed up did you? >_< Don't worry I understand, mistakes happen in difficult situations. I have no doubt I would have done the same

I have been on the other side of the situation years ago.

I was driving down the country road where my parents live in my Cobra (which is loud admittedly), and this dork stepped into the middle of the road with a rock in one hand, and raising his other arm motioning me to stop. Well... I didnt know him, I hadnt been doing anything bad, so... I did the logical thing... unleashed 600hp of noise and accelerated instead of slowing down. He got out of the way pretty quick. I later heard from another friend that he intended on 'getting me' one day. That day never came. All I had done supposedly was accelerate as I passed his house and make noise several times, but he lived where the speed limit changed from 50 to 100 km/h. Now... his son also has a Mini and seems to spend most of his time speeding up and down and doing hand brake skids. Apparently all ok for his son to do it!

I dont condone doing burnouts outside peoples houses repeatedly, or speeding up and down housing areas, but... we have all been young, driven noisy cars and done stupid things - doesnt condone smashing their window or threatening someone with a hammer.

What is that designed for - attaching to a tow rope? or is it like a solid tow hook on its own?

There is a bloke who drives down my road playing his music really loud in a van. He then stops outside the same house everyday. The man that lives there comes out and buys 2 ice creams off him and goes back in. The van then drives off playing the same rubbish music everyday. :D

A lot of the kids ride their bikes up and down the street and in general is very nice and peaceful (apart from the above). One summer we had this boy racer tearing round the corner music pumping tyres spinning all that sort of stuff then pulling up outside his mates house. A few of the dads and myself were getting worried. Them about their kids and me about my mini getting hit. Anyway some of the dads caught up with the lad. Dragged him out of the car had a word in his shell like. He has never been seen down my road again.

Jake makes an interesting point without realising it maybe.
It's much easier to deal with antisocial behaviour if we stick together on it.
(I'm the local Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator...)

When it's one person against antisocial behaviour, someone gets hurt (or killed), or their property damaged.
When it's an entire neighbourhood, it's a little more challenging.
This is why it is a good idea to try and get on with your neighbours!

There is a bunch of lads who hang about round the corner where one of them lives.
It's like a Fiesta show with revving engines and so on. Was getting to be a pain.
Anyway, one of them got an old Metro and it was not starting.
I walked past and asked them what was wrong. Then I solved it for them - new coil required.
We're much better friends now. :D

Oh and I guess we will never know, but the man with the hammer could have been a private vendetta?

get the police involved i know theres a law preventing the use of a horn between certain hours, hence why taxi's dont do it anymore.

I found out a bit more today. After the incident yesterday the police went into a house directly opposite where the confrontation took place. They were in there about 10-15 mins but came out alone. My mom was talking to her friend who lives on the same road and she said that the guy that lives in this house is. in her words 'a bit of a nutcase'. Now whether it was the guy that lives in this house I cant say but he did look rather agitated, to say the least.

To be honest this problem with local boy racers has been going on for years. Every twelve months or so a new tarted up shed will appear, regularly having its knackers rungout around the local streets. Six to twelve months down the line they are either smashed to bits, banned or dead.
