i just drilled the rivets out on mine, took the metal holder of and put some blind rivets back in the holes, now ive got a nice smooth floor and no ashtray for rear pasengers to kick about.

Maybe a classic mini interior specialist could come up with something.

Maybe Andy @ Optimise can come up with a clever idea now hes knows theres something there

I think a hammer works for me...

This post came about because somebody wants a nice shiny one, which says to me that they aint going to use it for fag butts - so, if your not going to use it, get rid of it

no one will ever smoke in my mini, i pulled mine out when i re carpeted.

i dont have an ash tray in the dash rail either.

ive got a clock in mine

i put another courtesy light in mine which also operates footwell lights for if i want them on without the door open..will never use it but its better than the dash ash tray

and i riped my rear one out, looks tidier without plus people arent going to keep bashing it as they get in the back


and in andys defence i wreckon alot of people dont have them in for the same reasons of not wantin/lettin people smoke in their minis

Just keep a few coins in it so you are never short when paying to park . Plus no one can really see the coins in there with the cover on so no penny-grabbing, drug-taking chav is going to smash a window to try and fund their coke habit .

youd have 4 little holes where it was riveted in, i removed mine last week and riveted the holes back up when i re-carpeted the car, all that ever happened with my rear ash tray was that the lid fell off all the time

After a certain year I believe it wasn't fitted late 80's I think
