the acrylic exterior is finished! Cedar wood will cover what's left (front, front balcony roof and walls, rear basement wall and underneath the rear balcony). also missing in action is the aluminum roof edging. Now i'm waiting for the power company to come and hook up the electricity, i'm still working from a temporary line, which means i still dont have heat (its 4deg C as i type this) if it goes below 0 i'm gonna have water line problems... thank god for the fireplace!

building your own house is a bit like building your own mini, its not easy, its not quick, there's fun parts when you receive shinny bits (i was really happy when i got my alloy wall mounted roof vents :D ) but the worst thing is deadlines - the house has to be "livable" by the end of November because we're moving in, and there's no way we can push that deadline... so that's the stressful part, everything else is manageable. so, if you plan on building a house, here's 2 helpful advice: 1- add 30% to whatever you think it will cost you and 2- whatever your deadline is, add at least 2 months to it other wise you might have to go live with your mom for a while. :teehee:

next week comes the drywall! that means i will spend my weekend preparing for it (lots to do!)

its not so bad, we busted the budget right from the get go with the well, its 650 feet deep at 21$ per foot - and with the windows - but in the end its worth a lot more than what we've actually put on it.

its not that much more expensive building this kind of house compared to a same sq/ft size regular boring bungalow, as long as you dont go mad in the kitchen and baths!

we got hit with the first real snow today, about 6 inches in about 2 hours! i saw a fox sniffing around the woods! can wait to put the tools away, i've got nooo energy left. been worth it tho.

we're moving in it tomorrow :)
cheers!

I'm not feeling the look of the outside, but the inside looks amazing.
Very jealous!
