You seem to have done all this rather quickly (granted its prefab) but as regards time scales, how long did planning take? And were there any implications in planning being granted (like we'll grant planning if you do such and such...)

well, it all went pretty fast! we bought the lot in december, then spent part of the winter drawing up the plans, then we submited them for the permit in april. the structure took a week to build and 5 days to install...

6 inches in the garage:

i was afraid the structure would bow out under the weight of the concrete, i think i was being paranoid...

the walls and roof of the garage should arrive next week or so. cant wait to have something i can lock, bringing back the tools every time gets tiring!

Love it....

lol, may sound sad but i think there would be something oddly satisfying about being the guy in control of the concrete hose!

Just watching grand designs as well.

Will do something like this..........one day.

ok, time for a little update!

basement concrete after they went at it with the upside-down helicopter:

started framing the walls:

basement door installed:

1st floor getting ready for the radiant heating hoses and 2inches of darker gray concrete:

the concrete is scheduled to be poured next tuesday, 28 days later i'll be able to polish it!
the garage is scheduled for next wednesday!!!!

dunno how it is in the UK - but here in Quebec all construction workers (builders, plumbers, electrician, etc) are part of a union, and they are planning a general strike around august 30, which means the entire build might come to a screeching halt for a undetermined time. seems i might have to do more myself than i had initially planned... we'll see how it goes!

cheers

Looking good but bad news about the tradesmen. That basement would have made an awesome garage if you could have got into it from the front!
