I don't see how people can claim Netgear wireless routers are crap? Sky don't choose to roll them out on their internet packages because they perform badly.
Not looking forward to going back to my Uni house and facing BT's quality of service (or lack there of).

Funny thing is that it only started happening like this in the last week. Before then, evening speed was only just slower than daytime speed.
Apparently there is nothing Sky can do, and it must be down to either a serious amount of people joining in the last week, or the computers in the house need to be checked by the manufacturer. I'm not kidding, thats what they said

We have 3 laptops by different brands, and 2 main PC's that all show the same. One of the PC's is a fresh build with just Win7 and a virus scanner so its not like its something we've downloaded.

Sky's support is in a tier system. The first tier is basically people who have no clue what they're talking about. Were currently getting download speeds of 600-700kbps during the day and only 2.5kbps after 5pm.

Try calling them and demand to speak to someone who's from Tier 2 or Tier 3 support. Someone that can actually help you by doing a test on your line and the like.
Who's your ISP? What service do you pay for? By todays standards, that's quite slow.Mines:

Well, all i know is my Netgear modem simply refuses to give my household a consistent connection. It enjoys disconnecting itself and then taking ten minutes to reconnect. The modem itself gets really hot too, but it's in the coldest room in the house (my room

We've had ours for years and it's always been excellent. They do get warm though, but I think most routers do.
Is it the wireless that's having connectivity issues?

Hmmm. Is it an old one or something?

It's a few years old now, but i expected it to work well for longer than this. The wireless routers on the computers in our house work fine, but the green light representing a linked network (the "∞" symbol) on the modem disappears, then comes back after a short while. When that light goes, the connection goes.
