We're all novices!! Everyone has to be a one sometime! I took a whole day to get my radius arms fitted properly!! I think the learning is half the joy. Good for you Carlos.

A bit of time spent in the garage today
Firstly We put a couple of fluorescent tubes up
Posted Image
Thanks very much to Brams96, what a difference it has made! Those inner sills are here if you want them mate!

I had a look at the alloy case which houses the transfer gears and there is a hole right at the bottom.
Posted Image
Is this meant to be here? And if not, should I have it TIG welded up?

Boot floor has been cut ready for the repair panel
Posted Image

Battery box was cut out and new panel made and shaped
Posted Image

Then I went to connect the new argon mix bottle I found out that both the regulator and bottle were female connections so I've ordered a new regulator! It turns out CO2 bottles generally are male, and mix gas are female????

So we gave up and had Sunday Roast

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Loving the yorkshires, best bit of a roast !!

Not sure where you are looking at with the hole, but if it's in the actual case then I would say it's a problem. Just had a look at the transfer end of my box and I don't have one !!

Where are you putting the battery, under the seat??

Nice work as usual,

Graham

It's right at the bottom of the housing, clutch side!

Can't beat home made Yorkshires, no Aunt Bessies in this house!

Not sure where the battery is going, but I know where it's not going!

Don't worry about the hole Carlos it's supposed to be there, don't ask me what for though! No problems about the lights, glad I could help, it must be nice to finally see what your doing ;-) . I'm on nights all next week so might pop over on the way to work one day. Cheers

I wondered if the hole was for condensation to drain out or something???

Just drop me a text if you're coming round!

It's great to be able to see what I'm doing, the light on the work bench is superb!

Just need one more on the roof and the wall mounted ones now!

Carlos,

can you post a larger view of where the hole is, can't tell from the close up. Just want to check mine properly now. Might have to start drilling holes in my gearbox case soon lol.

It won't be tonight mate!

I'll pop down to the garage after work tomorrow with my camera rather than phone!

It is right at the bottom of the casing, on the clutch side!

Got in the garage again yesterday
Posted Image
Battery box hole and boot repair panel in

Posted Image
Plenty of penetration (argon mix is far better than CO2)

The boot floor repair panel is seam welded all the way along the inside to the rear panel to make cutting the back lip off easier! It's a magnum panel. and with the panel lined up properly to the rear arches and giving the spare wheel well the correct shape there was loads of spare metal so I'm glad the rear lip is coming off.

Posted Image

There is no way this can go any further forward, it's hard up against the back of the arches!

Hi Carlos,

nice to see you at it again, oo err. I think it's just the panel, but it does seem to have a lot of spare metal on the lip. Try offering up the subframe just to see if the holes line up on the magnum panel, if it has them?? The curved bit of the spare wheel well looks too far back and not sure if there is enough room to fit the vallance on there as it is. May be the pic, but do some checking before it's all welded up finally.

Hope all goes ok and it's just the pic, or if not, it's fettling time !!!

It's hard up against the wheel arches! There are no holes for the subframe bolts so i'll have to drill them! It's going to be bumperless so it'll all be fine!

Probably the best day ever in the garage today, but a distinct lack of decent photos!

Rear subframe put back in place, holes drilled for the rear mounting bolts, new strengthening pieces bolted then welded in place!
Posted Image

Then a few other patches welded!

I've got loads of welds to grind back and dress, running out of gas and can't afford any more until pay day! Chris and I are aiming for a few hours in the garage on Thursday, maybe get the rear valance trial fitted, use the last drops of gas and then order some more after I get paid!

The lovely wife to be, (we get married next month) made a cracking Sunday roast!

I'll get in the garage during the week with the grinder and get some more pics snapped!

Hi Carlos,

nice to see some progress, the welding looks to have moved on nicely too ! I too am nearly out of gas, not that I'm working outside unless it warms up lol. You need to send the misses to be over here, as you will be putting weight on before the wedding if you keep eating her roasties, I on the otherhand can take the burdon from your gut !!!

Looking forward to more pics !

This is my mates welding!

The Clarke welder seems to be welding lovely, especially with the argon mix!

I bought another 1275 block this week, I oiled the bores then wrapped the whole thing in cling film to protect it!
