Back in the garage today to sort the rear valance! After some tinkering and imagination it's on, all seam welded on the inside, and all the lip ground off!

All there is to do now is run the thinnest bead down the outside join then grind it back!

Once that's done I'll take some pics!

I'm aiming to get in there on Monday night when "she" is at work! I'm so much more motivated when it's going well

Here is the rear valance, it is seam welded to the boot floor on the under side, I've got a bit more to do on the outside, then I need to get a flexible sanding disc to smooth it all down!

I go to Sri Lanka on Saturday so there wont be any progress for a bit!

I agree Graham!

It's taking a bit of time but I want to make sure it's done properly!

It will need a skim of filler, but there wont be any movement so it shouldn't crack!

Well, I've had a week in Sri Lanka then 10 days, in the Maldives, fantastic holiday and wedding!

Anyway, back into the garage today, I got a metal polishing place to strip a few bits and I collected them yesterday, the brake plates and drums primed

And the rear valance all ground back!

That'll be it for this week, I want to get the garage tidied as it's a right mess then crack on next weekend possibly repairing the holes where the front shocks mount.

she bought me the car graham, so she only has herself to blame! i'm going to get some black engine enamel this week and paint the rear brake plates then bake them in the oven when she's at work next weekend! I need to buy the rear 1/4s soon, but as i'm sure we're all aware its all about the money!

Just wondering all the rust and panels that you cut out did you buy panels to replace these or did you just get metal and reshape it. cause im looking at getting rid of rust and wondering best way to do it?

A bit of both really! Some places I bought panels, like new sills, boot repair panel, rear 1/4s, front end etc.

Other places the rust was cut out and bits cut, shaped and welded in

Well, I painted the rear brake plates last night, and they reacted! No idea why, so I've stripped them off, cleaned them all up, not bothered priming them and they appear to be ok!

I've just had the first one in the oven to bake the engine enamel on!

The wife is at work so she'll never know!

Unfortunately I bought red VHT paint not realising it doesn't give a gloss finish, so I've ordered some more paint for the drums!

She's out over the weekend so if it turns up I'll bake them in the oven too!
