I managed to get back on this for a couple of hours today.

The next thing to sort was this

OXV9l0X.jpg

I started off by chasing in the A panel towards the door which helped bring it in more level with the door but created another problem - there was absolutely no gap between the back edge of the a panel and the front edge of the door.

I decided I would need to cut a section of the A panel out, trim back the flitch where the A panel folds onto it and then let in a new piece in a new position to even the gap up.

Here is my repair piece positioned and tacked

Te0K3NB.jpg

Then after fully welding it and cleaning back, I gave the area a skim of body filler to even things back out

It's not 100% but it's as far as I can get it in without major surgery.

Once it was about right, I finished off with some fine glaze

Cd95HXD.jpg

Which of course will need rubbing down.

I also did a spray out card with the new paint to see how it looks.

Outside

And inside

The camera makes it look really vibrant but it isn't quite that bright. I have contacted the supplier of the paint to ask if the paint they sell is accurate to the pictures online.

Ben

I love the colour.

I’m sure lacquered on metal it’ll be great.

Who is it from?

The spray out card is 4 coats of base, 2 drop coats and 2 coats of clear so that is how it will look on the metal.

It's from a paint supplier called NU-AGANE. They are the only supplier of that colour because it is their creation.

That's who I used. I've got a piece of pipe I painted but without the lacquer on.

There's a pic of it somewhere on here

I thought it was although there cellulose version is completely different to the 2k.

Did you paint the pipe with one of their rattle cans? Actually, did you paint the inside of the shell with their rattle cans? If so, that is why they were so different. the rattle cans were probably the 2k version

The cellulose Nu-Agane Cadbury Purple met is very dark when it goes on. I had an old Honda monkey bike sprayed in it and was more like Black Tulip :P which I happen to love, so although it wasn't what I had my heart set on originally I ended up preferring it!

This is going to look awesome in proper Cadburys Purple though.

Edit: That's the tin I have https://imgur.com/yeMEaJb

Got pics of the bike on a memory card somewhere but Cadbury's Purple it was not lol

That is what this Mini was painted in when it came in to me

It seemed the more coats you put on, the darker and darker it got. It ended up a very dark plum colour

Yep looks similar to what I ended up with using that tin. Did look awesome when the sun hit it though! I personally loved the colour of this mini when you guys first done it, but can't wait to see it once you've finished with it this time round
