As I believe I said before regarding phone tracking of a car, if you don't make a call on a PAYG SIM or top it up for 6 months they may well disconnect it. Nothing is as easy as it seems.

Do you have to make a call on it, or can you simply just phone it? If the phone rings, I wonder if thats enough to count....? Because you could just phone it every so once it a while.

whats to stop you just sending a text every 6 months off it!? or even just topping it up £5 every six months! then, if you break down, you also have a phone to call the breakdown team on!

The fact that you've intentionally buried it inside the dashboard or somewhere else where it's hard to find, because you want it to be hard to find because that's the point. If I did it, with my luck they'd cut it off the day the car got stolen.

Oh and no phoning in doesn't count. The phone company want you to spend money with them, oddly!

Virgin T&C's for PAYG say "you need to use our Services at least once within any 90 day period either by making a chargeable call or sending a text message."

send a text every 89 days.

I'd just hide it in the boot under the liner somewhere

I know it doesn't stop someone picking up your car or breaking a window, but the old screwdriver through the door trick could be solved by a door lock shield as per most modern cars. Still leaves the issue of being able to take out the lock, but its something. Central locking and eliminate the key lock in the door handle perhaps... would need to leave a key for the boot lock to get at the battery in the event of a power failure I suppose. Just a (rambling) thought...

Unfortunately there are easier ways to open a Mini door than the screwdriver lock trick.............

You could probably do something with a pc 'n bluetooth or a data cable to send a text. Looks like you could also duplicate the sim card.

A note to those with agreed value policies.....

Make triple sure that if your insurance policy renews automatically, that your agreed value policy has been renewed with it. DO NOT assume it has - make sure.

I was very nearly caught out by this with Adrian Flux at my last renewal. Even though the policy had renewed automatically and the documentation gave reassurances, it turned out that they needed an agreed value application to be re-completed and fresh photos to be sent in order to renew the agreed value element.

But surely, if theres a battery cut off switch, fuel cut off switch, imobiliser, tracker, tilt sensors, movement sensors etc then there not going to nick it are they? also if its in a garage, ive heard that a baby moniter inside the car and by your bedside so if anyone breakes into the garage you will hear them and run down and smash there lights out with a massivo iron bar

thats easy to get round cut the electric suply kills all the power so nothing like that works then cut the brake lines so there is no preassure and can be wheeled back and to sort the tracker all you need is to know were it is an place lead around it lol then of on the low loader or even easyer break in nick the keys and then they are of.

youll never stop car crime what so every as the people that do it are not stupid in that sort of way.
