Sounds a much better system! the only problem i can see is if a Noobie posts loads of cac threads double posts and what not's to get there posts upto a hundred and fifty? will there be someone checking there threads are decent before they are allowed to sell?

that's what the report button is for, click that and the TMF staff are informed and can look into it

I think this is great news, I was going to send a friendly email to one of you mods anyway to ask if you were happy with the classifieds section. I find that not being able to reply or see any other activity in a for sale thread is a bit un-nerving, as you dont know if dozens of others are already making offers, what is for sale and what has been sold etc.

One of the other forums I use occasionally (if allowed to say it is talkphotography.co.uk (if not please delete this bit mods!)) has a really good classified section, their rules state that everything must be public, offers on prices already asked for are fine if you are not taking the mick, and pm's are not allowed until a sale has been agreed in the public thread. This way everyone knows the score, you dont waste time whilst not knowing if it has been sold or not and people are FAR less likely to be a waste of time as well!

One question- if the seller waits a few days with no interest- can he/she post again in the same thread to say something along the lines of "price revision to £xxx"? That way we can try and get the prices right, and as it is all in public view I think it unlikely there will be any scamming!

there are a few trader rating systems available for 2.3 which should be easy to add on.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I can't see that being a problem.

With a bit of luck, we won't be stuck on 2.3 for much longer.

I look forward to seeing the revisions, I'm on several forums for a variety of topics and use classifieds to buy and sell things that I want and don't want. this one does seem a bit 'primitive', no editing etc. Also I've just tried to list my wellers as sold and can't!

just one thought, isn't 150 posts rather high? I've just bought a lovely set of seats and sold some tatty wheels through the classifieds, I think all of us were below the 150 posts mark!

just my opinion, keep up the good work

Maybe you could lower the post amount abit e.g. 50 for buying and 100 for selling? :-

The question of post counts was discussed at length, it had to be number high enough to discourage spammage and low enough to be achieveable.

If they become a TMF+ member then the post requirement drops to 5 posts.

Most of the complaints we get are from members who've had dealings with low post count members, a minimum post count means that they will have spent some time around the forum and got to know us and how we work.

It annoys me when I see people with a 0 post count selling stuff, to me thats disrespectful to us. We're not ebay we're a forum.

Should they chose to use us like eBay then they should pay for the privilage. £5 for a years free adverting and all the benefits of TMF+ sounds reasonable to me.

If its a genuine new member then they too will get the TMF+ benefits.

As said newbies can buy anything they want.

Is this new area going to encompass traders? What is to stop a scammer registering as a trader to get arround the post count.

Traders still need a 150 post count, we would also have all the traders details as well.

Theres no reason why a trader can't buy and sell in the classifieds area, they're high lighted with a blue name so won't be hiding their status.
