New classifieds sounds good, won't please everyone but not sure you can anyway

If they become a TMF+ member then the post requirement drops to 5 posts.

Most of the complaints we get are from members who've had dealings with low post count members, a minimum post count means that they will have spent some time around the forum and got to know us and how we work

Hate to say it but some people will join up to TMF+ get 5 post counts and fleece away in the classifieds

Hopefully you will have enough details on them to sort it out.......or post it online  :-

Thats the idea, we don't want to penalise genuine users who join up and want to sell immediately but paying £5 and having to give us their pal-pal account should put most of the scammers off.

With a bit of luck they'll move on to the next free site.

At the very least we'll have a pay-pal address to give to the police.

Whatever we don't won't stop them totally, all we can do is try and make life as difficult for them.

yeah we could form a team of heavys in each area, so if someone gets ripped off then we send the heavys of that area round their house, noone will rip our members off then!

I agree with the above

Hopefully the £5 and paypal malarky will put off most, alot of people have been mugged off on here

And that what we're trying to stop.

Its a fine line and like you say we won't please everyone. When the new system comes on line I'm expecting outraged PM's from people who have been able to sell before and now can't because of the post count rule. We're gonna be accused of being profiteering, money making scoundrals!!

Bottom line is that the TMF team have put a lot of effort into this, we've listened to what people have said and done our level best to take all this on board.

I used to really enjoy selling with the old(old) system and made many good mates through it, I'm very keen to promote this with the new system.

I want it to be a fun place that people will enjoy using, hence anyone that starts abusing it will be kicked into touch VERY quickly.

Thats why we're warning people in advance!!

If anyone reading this with a post count of less than 150 wants to continue selling via TMF then they either need to get posting or become a TMF+ member ASAP!!

(and you'd better be quick as well!!)

Hmmmm, I seem to remember a time when i had a post count of over 300 just for one night on another 'now thankfully dead' mini forum. :-

150 should be easily achievable if people really want to sell.

Shame about the mileage thing though as i used to base even looking at items by the distance column.

Thats different to now how? :- The post count does work for classifieds, it does with another forum I'm with so I welcome it

Also whenever I have needed an ad to be edited Deathrow has been spot on and done it double quick time so although most people might not like it I do

Yeah and most of those posts wouldn't even have made it past the swear filter on here!!! :-

There may be stuff like that we(well ok Deathrow) can look at adding on later. At the moment all we can do is make sure there a price and location in the advert.

Sadly I can't forsee any means of including a distance feature at this time, not when it's using the board itself. It was possible with the previous system because it's seperate from the actual forum.

Having the system seperate from the forum gives us alot more power to get exactly what we want from it, but then on the other hand, alot of people complained because the new for sale items didn't appear on the "new posts" function on the board index. It becomes quite difficult to please everyone.

This system is by no means final.

New system is now live.

It can be found at the top of the Consumers and Classifeds area :).

If you have more than 150 posts and can't start a new topic in there, you need to make another post somewhere on the board and your usergroup will be corrected automatically.

If anyone finds any problems or anything, please PM me and I'll get it sorted.

Retro Rides has an ad purgatory thread, for ads that don't meant the Description, Location, price etc. requirements
Here
Gives people a chance to fix their thread, and also deters people from starting poor threads, rather than the bad ones just disappearing.
Just an idea :)

Taken on board!

We shall give this a go for a few weeks and see how often we actually end up deleting adverts, I think that will dictate whether or not we need a purgatory area. I do like the idea though.

Thanks for the input.
