Put this old spare wheel on and whacked the handbrake on and by jove, it worked!! Ok, so i had to pull the lever up about 6-7 clicks but that because I've done no adjusting at all yet! (need the proper handbrake adjusting nut!)
Also got round to finishing and fitting my other brace bar (stainless steel is awful to drill through, eats drill bits even when going slow! )
So now I'm slowly cleaning/painting/fitting the front suspension components
That's all for now, folks! Comments appreciated

Looks great pooky! very yellow B) Working with stainless all the time, the only advice I can give is to use good quality drill bits, they last a little longer.
and a drop of oil on the bit

Got one of the old cones fitted, will probably get new ones before it goes on the road. Having never done anything like this before, I don't know if this looks right or not... are the angles of all the bits looking right? Will it all become clear once I try and get the hub on? lol
Speaking of hub's I've started cleaning and dismantling the disk/drive assemblies I got at L2B for £40, not too bad I thought.
They're pretty dirty so i've been using my wire brush in the angle grinder to clean them right up
few problems/concerns though,
The pistons in the calipers look well seized in so they may prove fun getting out!
I've only been working on the o/s assembly but I can't get one of the domed ball joint nuts off, tried heat and leverage so I've left it to soak in degreaser over night and will give it a another go soon.
Oh yeah and my bottom arm pin is loose in the subframe. Is it suppose to be, the flat end looks like it should slot into the subframe but it's a bit slack this one
What should I be looking to replace in the assemblies? The ball joints are pretty loose so they'll go, also the bearings themselves feel quite loose in the hub so I'll probably have to get them done. Anything else?

there not much to the hubs apart from ball joints and wheel bearings.
those brakes will be ok, just get a rebuild kit with some stainless pistons.
good luck, im going to be doing my hubs this week too!

and considering the timescale I set myself I've got time to pnce about painting all the little individual bits, even if no one's ever going to see them (rear hubs, handbrake compensator bracket, might even paint the pistons when I get round to the engine lol )

are all the suspension components new? or the old ones shot blasted?
looking well nice!!!!
cheers dude
actually neither, they're the old ones, brushed up with angle grinder wire brush then hammerited : not the most sophisticated but looks fine for me
