Woo progress is a lovely thing!

Finished the rear brakes, got the circlips on my cylinders, and got a hub on

Posted Image

Only thing is is once the hub nut is tightened to the specified torque its really hard to turn! Even with a wheel on its as if the handbrake's on!

-

I also finished gave my steering rack a bit of a refurb with new gaitors and track rod ends (sitting 1053mm apart ;)) and the hammerite came out again

Posted Image

Also painted up the top and bottom suspension arms and slung them on to see what they'd look like :-

I'm happy :)

Have you put the handbrake bracket in? as theres to rectangular holes for that and one seems to be near the adjuster (i.e. shoe upside down)?

If its tight it could be you need to adjust the brakes and make sure they are centered by making sure they are an equal distance away from the edge of the backplate all around so when the drum in on they arent already rubbing.

My rear hubs did the same thing - have you fitted new rear wheel bearings? If so try seating the outer races slightly further into the hub as, chances are, although they may look like they are fully home they probably aren't.

Another point - it looks like you have the rear shoes on backwards. The end of the shoe with the larger space before the friction material is the leading edge and hence should be at the top on the front-most shoe and bottom on the rear-most shoe. This applies to both sodes of the car.
