Apparently crude oil is expected to reach $100 per barrel so prices will go up again. BUT wait a minute, crude prices have been as high as $140 a barrel and we have never paid as much for fuel as we do now!
Remember back in the dark days of 2000 when we had the last real fuel protests, where farmers and truckers blockaded oil refineries? Well at that time they were complaining that the price of fuel had increased to "a massive 80.6p for unleaded and 85.1p for diesel"!!! What has happened since?
Well the price of fuel is now around £1.27 for unleaded and £1.32 for derv but these are average prices.
So providing I’ve worked this out right going from the above.
To fill a 7.5 gallon mini fuel tank back in 2000 it would cost a total of £27.22 at 0.80p; to fill the same tank today would be £43.20 at 1.27p. That’s £15.98 more, that’s over half a tank back in 2000 prices!!
And it’s set to rise even higher!!!
