i love the idea of a sleeper 240 volve estate-got a caravan & 2 large dogs, not to mention the missus & 2 surly teenagers.

Based on 3.5 litre HC from injected Range Rover.
Modified heads.
Piper Torquemax cam.
Janspeed manifolds.
4x SU carbs on boxer manifold.
Side exit 2.5" exhaust system.
It was very loud and was great at the lights when a chav pulled up alongside in his Saxo!!

I had a V8 Land Rover 110 for several years.
Based on 3.5 litre HC from injected Range Rover.
Modified heads.
Piper Torquemax cam.
Janspeed manifolds.
4x SU carbs on boxer manifold.
Side exit 2.5" exhaust system.

LOVE IT

You people who complain about balancing twin SU's........ NEVER complain again!! Each carb fed 2 cylinders. We had to treat each pair of cylinders as a single engine. There was a port welded into each exhaust manifold right by the head to measure emissions. The carb feeding the rearmost 2 cylinder on the right of the engine was a totally different set up to the other 3. This is because these two cylinders fired sequentially, so the carb had to feed them immediately one after the other.
Note two damn great electric fans.... but the engine never really overheated. The fans only cut in in traffic and you could see the temp gauge drop instantly.

damn alot of setting up work then
since its off roader id had 4 snorkles
Without even thinking about the plumbing, snorkels are a bit pointless on the Rover V8.... the dizzy is right at the front!! If you see petrol engines that were specifically designed for off road use, the dizzy it right near the bulkhead.
Mind you we had water above the bonnet and gradually lost firing on cylinders and probably crawled out on 2! With correct driving and generating a small bow wave, the water level in the engine bay is a lot lower than outside. It doesn't stop it getting past the useless Land Rover door seals though. You open the doors to the accompaniment of a waterfall!

haha i know we got a Xj220 (old jimny) and you get in that and drive into a big puddle and barely any water gets in then when you go though a little river or smallish puddle its floors the cabin ):
