Haha, our mature student used to own a straight 4 Alfa Romeo and after i hassled him for ages about it, he's now got a V6 Alfa. "It's a start" is what I told him >_< . Most of the other cars peeps in my group have are either 106's or Saxo's. They are scrap cars as they need lots of work for their next MOT's and pretty much everything mechanical is broken on them so they just aren't worth it anymore. But they'll never understand V8's cause they just aren't into cars that much

American cars are gay.

 well i have no idea how you came to this conclusion obviously you havent had a go at rodding, because you wouldnt be saying that but if going to a show with a bunch of people who all like the same things and all the cars are loud, beautifully built or customed, drag cars, racers or even slammed cruisers all these prolong the life of what is known as hot rods and if all these lovely cars are "gay" then IM GAY BECUASE i wouldnt want my life no other way because liike minis to you and me bring us great joy of being able to meet new people and join in with some many different communities and i can garuntee most of the hot rodders would call minis "gay" because there too small and you cant fit a massive V8 Power plant with ease in the front of a mini and they're not giant gas guzzling road hogs but too me the sound off a v8 is heart beat to me, its my past my present and my future my life is hot rods yanks and all classics over the world!!! so i think "gay" is a massive statement and it just aint true but everyone is allowed an opinion it just doesn't mean its fact. but im sure we both have completely different views of the cars but i like the fact im different to others i dont like to be one who follows a trend i like things my way and do it to please me not a crowd!!

couldn't agree more, there was a craze over here for Hot rodding motors up but our rules are so scrit compared the yanks

also ricks mini is modfied but personal i don't like flip front mini's or custom turbo jobbies i like my 998 (coughh 1046cc) but its peoples views
the yanks made some very nice cars
and the Hemi engine is so nice loverly engine my mate has one in his landy!!

WOW im the same but to be honest i dont mind flip fronts i would prefer just normal front but sometimes is easyier when working on engine just sit on the wheel but i really dont like turbo, vtech, vauxhaull jobbies im a fan of standard, simple and >_< CHEAP INSURANCE ;D but yeh i love all things "yank" especially most off the family friends (well actually all but 2 who are into cars has yanks) other two well one has a humber super snipe black with giant scoop and chopped roof and the other has a mixture of triumphhs jaguars daimlers rovers morris and a mini which was his mums who sadlly died and he stored it for eight years and now he has got it back out of the barn and all he has done is : 1:started it up 2:swapped doors and thats all he has needed to do that and put his 10" wolfies on. aswell as use it all the time its gorgous and really is a icon of what he can build its amazing. also my dad has a 1949 dodge a 305cu. inch Chevy EFI and boi is it loud it came in from the states it lived its first 40-50 years in texas and lived in manchester now he has it. also my dad has a triumph 2000mk2 and has done welding and electrics to it and has it mot'd and back and will be used and loved for many many years to come!!! but yanks are amazing!! also what type landy is the hemi in ??

I do National Diploma Engineering (Level 3) . But tinkering with cars has tought me as much if not even more ;D . We have a silly joke about Coventry "Why was Jesus not born in Coventry. Because you can't find 3 wise men and a virgin" :) Ones from there started it so I think they're quite proud of coming from Cov :)

my older brother is in the middle of building a new frame for his 55 chevy car, so far its got 4wheel disc brakes, a ford 9in rear end, 5 speed gearbox, 7.4L big block chevy engine, manual rack steering, figberglass front clip and boot lid, 500tq@3000rpm, 3380 pounds overall weight with a small stereo in it

the new frame he's building is about 90% done, turning the car into a "gasser", straight axle up front, and doing away with the manual rack steering, fender well headers and pull the front bumper off, when its all said and done, the car will weigh 3100 pounds
and that 7.4L can pull 6500rpm's no problem

my dad is building his 55 chevy belair with a small block chevy v8, 5.3L, bored out 327 30 over, built engine for high rev's, the goal for this engine is to make 400hp@8000rpm's, well see what the engine dyno says when its time
and he's gonna run a 200r4 with .67overdrive, to make it so it can be driven on the street, dana 60 with 5.13 gears-d locker, this thing is gonna be able to pull the front wheels

as for me, i got a nice street built engine in my hot rod truck im building, chevy lsx 5.3 with a nice cam to it,lol and a nice set of heads that been worked over alittle
and a pcm tune and long tube headers, its about 400hp at the flywheel, nothing to crazy, and the truck weighs 2600lbs

my dad also has a 54 chevy panel van with a 331 hemi with a blower on it, with a turbo 400 and gearvenders overdrive unit, with a dana 60 4.11 posi rearend

nothing like the sound of a good old america v8

i don't personally care to much about fuel prices for fun cars, but for daily driver vehicle, yes it does suck to have to fill up every 2 weeks or so,
i daily drive a ext cab pickup truck with a 3.7L v6, but im trying to sell it, so i can buy a beater with a heater 1.5L and down to drive to work, to save a few on fuel and to
not have to put out as much for road tax every year

the idea of swapping a chevy 4.3L v6 into my mini has crossed my mind a few times, i built this v6 to make good power a few years ago, it broke an auto flex plate before, shortly after i built it up,
i still have the engine but i don't have the built tranny for it anymore but i can always get another one
