woah hold on there.

the op hasnt accused you of selling fake items, he was asking how to tell the difference. asking the seller if there genuine wont always help as there is alot of people on ebay that will simply lie.

if i was selling these handles then id have replied to this thread explaining the differences between the real and fake ones, and point out that yours are real.

as for being a 'big man' hiding behnd a computer, id like to point out that had this conversation been in person, and you reacted the way you did. id have no problem calling you an arse. even if your a 7ft black guy with a irritating ball rash

I dont think i made myself very clear in my previous post of the matter....

I said that the second picture, moss's handles, looked genuine but the defensiveness was what had me puzzled, fair enough he did not have the right to question your reliability or if they were genuine or not behind your back but would you not rather get a second opinion as there is alot of dodgey stuff going around on ebay.

Pm'd you my number if you wish to speak in person. I certainly was not out to slate yoursand if you read my post back I mentioned that I believed yours were the genuine items (search Google and no examples could be found) so used yours as a comparison, I did ask for a BIN and was given a reply.

My question was placed before any bids so fail to see an issue, considering I am in the same area I thought the question was a genuine one:

Do you have a buy now (as a set) afraid to bid and get part of the set as that would render them useless. I'm just in Gateshead and would be paying cash.

Reply:

No Buy Now sorry. If you want the set then I'm sure you know how to bid in order to win the 3 auctions.

Now someone did raise the question and this was your reply:

Q: I wonder if the word is engraved in the metal, are original?
A: Please read the description; why ask this question and waste my time???? ''Genuine Signature etched Window winders ''

So having been told there was no BIN I looked elsewhere and was offered another set for £150, they looked slightly different to yours so raised the question whereby other mini owners may be able to help as the owner of the 1st picture could not offer a solid answer and "considered" them to be genuine.

I did not doubt yours and posted pics as a comparison for others to confirm, I then enquired if you and the seller on ebay were one and the same as you had just pm'd me earlier with regard to my S discs and may have been able to come to some kind of agreement.

Like yourself I have not hid away today, I've also been at graft and just found your PM in my inbox. Like I have said in my PM I am certainly not a 19yr old keyboard warrior out to take on cyber terrorists, I am a genuine bloke that had genuine concearns before I stood to loose £150 and would gladly discuss any issue on a more personal basis and not over a forum.

The replies the seller gives to simple questions just seem rude and unnecessary. If its such a waste of his precious time to give you a simple polite reply - Then why bother to reply at all. Sellers like this are what lets ebay down.

The point you've got about missing out on some of the items is perfectly acceptable - Unless your sat there waiting for all 3 auctions to end and are willing to pay over the odds, theres a big chance you'll miss out on the full set.

Who cares? If you're putting John Cooper Cooper door handles on a car that isn't a Cooper then what does it matter if they arn't geniune?

But think of the respect you're going to get for those door handles! It is well known that buying stuff off Ebay with "John Cooper Works BMC Speedwell Downton Rally NOS" in the title will add both value and performance to your car. In fact, you'll be beating them off with a poo-ey stick.

I care and they are to go on my Cooper, I am seeking the correct ones to go with the signature clocks and gear knob that I am putting together (as a set) all items were readily available via John Cooper Garages in the 90's.

They may not give extra BHP and value fails to come into play as the car is not for sale the sheer fact that they are OEM items that would enhance the interior of my car is what I would be purchasing a set for.

I'm interested to know why everyone thinks they know that these are fakes when all they've seen is an eBay photo ...

Yet no-one's prepared to take the word of the seller - The only person here to have actually held the real items!

I'm fed up of people looking for an argument on here.

If he says they're genuine, that I believe they're genuine. All the comments about how "having an attitude proves they're fake" - What a load of rubbish! I'd have an attitude if you accused me of selling cheap imitations, when I know that they're genuine!

I would have taken his word and did, but another seller also considered his to be genuine, this left me with a dilema and considered it best to ask other enthusiasts, I never accused Moss and fully agree with you that it fails to matter if someone has an attitude it does not mean they are out to rip you off, the other seller was only too willing to reply and answer questions in a polite manner but it has been deemed that his were in fact the fake items, I still don't know if he even knew and would not accuse the seller of knowingly trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes, it may have and probbably was a genuine misunderstanding but without asking or being told then someone else (namely me would have been out of pocket £150). The seller has now been informed so if he fails to mention it then it's upto him but hopefully no one on here will spend there hard earned on fakes.

can't see the problem my self

the op asked for advice before shelling out a lot of money on something that will open a door and make his windows go up and down

it's no different than asking if a cooper s someone is looking to buy is the real thing

i think a better answer from the seller would be yes they are the real thing here is something to prove they are

i still don't think after 3 pages anyone can show 100% these are the real things

Moss71 you really need to calm down. I understand you might be a bit p**sed at MigliaMayhem questioning your honesty, but it's the same for the guy selling the other pair, though the difference is, one of you is honest, one isn't (Or they're both fake!)!

If they are genuine then just lay off. the OP has a right to be concerened, as far as I can tell you're just making things worse.

If they AREN'T genuine, then stop trying to rip people off!

Everybody that's saying they must be fake and having a go at moss71, there's no need for that!

Steve

P.S The second ones do look real to me

:)

It's a fair question from the OP, and maybe didn't warrant such a strong response initially, but it was the accusations that followed that were, in my opinion, totally unjustified.
