Had a go at the front panel today and my grinder shat itself :(

It came with a 5 year warranty and i think i've had it 5 and a half, its been perfect til today.

Any rust is only surface rust.

Before the grinder died i managed to remove some of the waxoyl to reveal the welds holding the remainder of the outer wing to the front panel,i thought it would be spot/plug welded but no. Will i have to chop off as much as is need to separate them and then weld a new lip on?

Went to buy a grinder today and they had a macallister one for £23! It even came with a grinding disc and two guards. After using it for a few hours im really impressed with it as i thought it would be naff.

I sometimes doubt my decision to start chopping up a shell that looked solid but then i find things like this, previous owner didn't even bother with weld through primer.

Don't think the other side is going to be much better.

Got the front panel separated today, will need to make the support brackets when the front end goes together. It was a right ball ache and took ages, should it be spot welded?

Had a go at making some repair patches for the front parcel shelf. Not perfect but should be able to work them in.

The had a go at sorting the inner post,it looked ok from this side but the other side revealed it had not penetrated. Tried a few setting and pulsing but couldn't mater it.. Welding on the land rover is much easier than the mini lol

Along with one of these, last time i had one i only had a 50l compressor and it wasn't up to the job.
