Hmm, I wonder which LEs came first. This is mine, a New Zealand LE from 1977/78.

Note the lovely spray-on vinyl roof. Also came with a sporty steering wheel, and the worst hubcaps ever.

Definitely the 1100 special. My life would just be complete with a vinyl roof and a centre console.

The cooper and 'S's were production models not LEs...............

I rember these when they first came out Put my order in in 1980 but the quota for Jersey was all sold I wanted a metalic rose............... :)

I agree with the op. The Designer is highly desirable and, like the Paul Smith, which is also very desirable, was styled by a seriously important designer. I refer of course to Mary Quant. Most of the specials were just done by the marketing people. I also agree with mk1leg, extremely desirable as they are, Coopers and Cooper S models were not special edition or LE.

Paul Smith is tops for me followed by a 1275GT although not really an LE, and really like the 1100 Specials and Designers too.
