I've had evil thoughts like that but they qucikly dissapear once I get my Mini down a fabvourite stretch of road, or when people stop and ask you about it becasue they are legendary cars.
Modern, reliable, safe cars are plain dull and drive even worse with too much power assisted rubbish and they are too heavy.
When Minis break down (which is a fair bit, I concede that) they are cheap to repair.
When a modern car breaks down, which they do do, they are expensive to repair.
If you sell it and buy a eurobox or something, you'll regret it.
If Mini owners had £1 for everyone who says "I had one, wish I didn't sell it" we'd all be millionaires.

I do understand what your saying about how easly you can for get about the bad when they run well but iv just picked the car up from having a new wing and respray and the nob has sprayed it the wrong coulor and it looks a state and i just though i wouldn't be having to put new wings on a cheap runabout cause if it wont pass a mot you scrap them and buy another. As much as i would love to keep the mini i do alot of motorway driving and often have to carry 5people and am always carting things about so i just going to have to have a car that can cope.

Minis are fun cars to have as a second car ifyou can afford it but being the poor student that i am i just cant so it has to go it will be being sold in sheffield if anyones intrested

If you insist on putting 5 people (or 6, that's a little confusing!) in a 4 seat car then it will break faster now won't it?

Stop whinging  :w00t:
I'm in the same situation as you - in the 18 months I've owned my Mini, its been off the road for 5 and 1/2 months and its the only car I have.
Don't drive it for a for a few days, cool down, watch The Italian Job and then you'll be itching for a run out in it.

We all have good and bad times with our Minis but driving an old ripper just isn't a solution, still have the hassle of an old car letting you down.
Jeez I sound like I'm on a Mini form of Trisha or somehing!

well it should be suitable for my doing it has a big enough engine to cope with the things i ask of it. The car is big enough to fit 5 people in but the engine won't cope with the weight its a 1275 why should it be strugaling when the car doesn't weigh much itself. all i ask of it is to do this but it wont.

...I found my favourite stretch of road today!! My god it's fun. Valleys, dips, hills, slightly banked corners, nice surface, twisty bends... and all of that lasts for a good 30 minutes!! :w00t:

Guy.

well everyone on the site seems to know so much about minis and go on about how they all break that would mean that what i said in the opening statement shouldn't effect anyones opinion of the car should it. after all you keep telling me that is what to expect of a mini

Am at the end of my mini tether. Have spent the last couple of months struggling and misfiring my way to work. Have battled with new plugs, leads, coil, points, condensor, fuel pump, dizzy cap, and have finally tied it down to something eating the condensors. have still got to work every day with a hideous misfire and am usually smiling by the time am about to leave work and do battle. get over it. i have to repair my car at the side of the road too.
You are either mini mad or mad.

yes but the fact the wings had to be replaced and resprayed is the minis fault so if the wings hadn't have gone i wouldn't have the greif of driving 200 mile round journey to have it respayed again missing more collage due to the car.

It don't matter how old the car is they still rust, new or old

If you don't want it to rust, stick it in a museum and leave it
But that’s not the point

I've got a mini as my second car, but for the last 3 weeks have driven it as my main car - and on the motorway on a daily basis for work.

Yes, they can be a pain, but what car isn't at times?? I see more newer cars broken down, than the older cars.

I've got my main car, a 205, back on the road today but still prefer my 20+ year old mini any day. They are fun, but do require attention.

No car is perfect - but even if I win the lottery, I can't imagine life without a proper mini and I would still try and do as much work on the car myself.

Stick with the mini - you would seriously regret getting rid of it in the long run.
