i want, but am a starving student at the mo, but i've got a long summer of hard work :dozing: so hopefully should have enough money by christmas to treat myself (and of course the car) to a little bit more power. Sooo tempting to get a loan, got one through the post the other day offering me stupid amounts at daft rates! Maybe not, best to just save up and wait :'(

Seriously, don't get a loan, tis really not worth it. Its not necessarily the fact that over the persiod of the loan you'll end up paying alot in interest, but the fact that you'll be tied in for so long. I got a loan a few years ago. Since then I've wanted to go travelling but have to wait another year or two before I can pay the loan off.

Yea, must be looking at about £2500 to do it if you have a good shell and dont plan on any other modifications. Its recommended to have a cage as well though, and you really should have decent suspension upfront to compliment the rose jointed arms.

Im actually thinking of doing this conversion myeslf again as the other day got an offer i cant really refuse an engine thats been fully refurbed and not used since its a 1.6 Carbed engine out of an Astra belmont so i think its the same base engine as you guys use but an older version without the electronic injection but best part is price FREE :dozing: and my mates dad who does comping saids he may be able to make me some drivshafts so in theory i COULD save myself quite a bit of dosh :(

bad news is insurance still dont like the idea even as 1000 miles a year :'( toy car

good luck with yours anyway its coming along well

My new fuel tank^^ Came today, round about 6 gallons, did want a bigger one but finding space for that and a spare tyre/anything in the boot would be difficult. Tis very shiney and nice.

Tried ringing smudger today to get a front end but it went to answer phone, is he still trading?

Excellant, i'll try him again tomorow.

Spoke to Tom (minis84) earlier and its got my enthusiasm going to get this done quick as he's definitely trying to get his conversion done by bh2n, same as me, so it'll be a nice drive .

^^^ That'd be it! I bought it from ebay for £100 delivered, holds about 6 gallon. Its about 9inch high, 18 long and 11 inch wide.

Where abouts are you mounting it? Im guessing in the boot? Also if using a std mini tank do you need to use one of the Injection tanks?

The tank will be in the boot, got to work on that yet, may sink it into the floor slightly.

You can use the mini injection fuel tank, the pump in that will be capable, or you could use the standard tank and add an electric pump, such as one made by facet, mounted close to the tank. I have a red top facet pump that runs at about 5psi i think, which is plenty of pressure for this engine.

I ordered my fibreglass doors and carbon dash from curley (www.curleyuk.com). I also spoke to smudger about a fibreglass one piece front and he says he will get back to me within a week about delivering it, or meeting half way.

Are you going for a Clubby or round nose? Presuming its going to be flip front? What made you go to an ally tank over the standard one? SOrry for all the questions just building up ideas

What made you opt for fibreglass doors? Are you worried about the bwoing out at high speed?
